Son and Art in NYC Was Perfect

My son had his show in NYC  Curated by Peter Doig,  who by the way was so nice.  He likes Mike’s work with spray paint and that speaks volumes.  He is an Artist first so he gets what one puts into what they do,  you know the true passion for the medium in which you choose to create with.

Some other things happened yesterday about suppertime.  I walked in before even seeing Mike and introduced myself to his Mom you know the one I chose from the Couple Bio’s at the adoption agency.  To say she had no clue as to who I was is a understatement but as I said her name and reached my hand out and said my name the question on her face became a smile.

Two Mom’s meet for first time(he is 37 lol).  She then introduced me to her friend also an artist in her own right as well as a  dear family friend of theirs and then her husband,  Mike’s Dad and then came a chance to meet the daughter she had after adopting my son.  Then her son in law and two precious grandchildren.  She asked if Mike knew I was there and I assured her no,  that was the best part after not seeing him in five years and him being so close to us I had to come see him and his show.

Mike was down a hallway and as her and I began to walk towards him he looked up and was floored first by the fact I was there in person and second because both he and his Mom were side by side laughing.  We hugged and I leaned down to pat his sweet dog, who had also made the trip east while my little girl(JT) and her daddy were just steps away from all the action in our truck.  I had sent him in to let me know if my son had arrived yet and he came out and said boy had he changed since he had come to the house that day we first met,  he no longer looked like the man who had fathered him but now more like one of my brothers:) yes life is good!  So after we were done hugging I told him I was going outside so Ron could come in as JT was in the truck to which he replied “Let’s go!”  Now I felt bad as people were streaming in to look at Art and meet the Artist’s  and here he was looking to bail.  He hates shows,  he hates the spotlight on him though when asked questions I would swear he is at ease or maybe last night was different maybe by 2 worlds colliding because I was once enough brave enough to do what was right,  it helped him to smile.  I hope so and anything one can do for their child no matter how old they are you do right?  We talked and hugged and I met some of his friends as well.

We left home at 11 am and stopped in CT to see friends and let JT walk around and do her thing as we stretched out legs for the last leg of the trip.  The show was from 6 to 8 pm and we made it to the gallery at 5 and found a spot in the shade of the cities huge skyscrapers.  It was warm just 4+ hours from NH but nice.  I walked JT along the NYC streets for a change of pace as we had time to spare I hate being late to anything.

I would say the show was a success. As I said my goodbyes at 7:45 the place was packed.  People pumped on Art within the walls of White Columns Art Gallery on Horatio Street not far from the 9-11 Memorial, which many of you may have seen all over the TV the day before.  I had hoped to see the lights shining upward but they were not on when we got there even though night had fallen over this beautiful city, yes Boston is my home but NYC is a close second and even more special now.

Time for some lousy photos taken with phone inside the gallery should you fall in love with a piece and want to call it yours you can contact the gallery for details as I never thought to ask what the prices were.  He also does custom work so if you want to have something done by a Graffiti Artist and not on the side of your building, lol here is his email tierneypaints@yahoo.com.  Sorry for bragging but I do adore him and want him to be even more successful than even he can dream for himself.

He loves adding flair to everyday objects :)

Hoped you loved the sample of his latest work,  I know we all did.

Hi

Me again, yes the birth mom of a very smart and oh so talented guy.  He has put his nose to the grindstone as they say and has made a connection with a very important person in the art world.  Anyone who has seen what he can do with a spray can, will not be surprised that he is making it once again into the big time,  NEW YORK CITY.

He was there once for a charity auction, one painting on the wall making a huge statement and bringing in so much more money than he ever dared to dream.  They had to give him a exhibition :)  This one is being curated by a man by the name of Peter Doig have you heard of him and the records he set with the sale of a painting titled “White Canoe” never mind the rest of his body of work.  My hope is he is a good man with only Mike’s best interest at heart.  From what I have read about Mr. Doig  I am sure he will be in great hands but moms worry and most only want the very best for their child, don’t they.  So yes I am so very proud of him and all the years he has worked hard to get noticed and now he has made it to the ultimate place to be seen, NYC!

So if you are free on Friday,  September 12 and are in the neighborhood of White Columns Art Gallery please stop in for his Exhibit Opening from 6 to 8 pm.  I will add the link to gallery page for the dates his works of art will be shown with them.
I wish him the very best and a wonderful showing!  Yes he has had plenty out in JH WY with all of the friends and locals there but NYC and say London are the place to be!
Blow Their Minds Mike!

May 16 Already

Hi everyone! Can you believe it is already mid May I want to stop the clock now days are going to fast! I have had so many things going on as you know so I wanted to let you know things truly are a little better. Mom was removed from hospital and they found a bed in a rehabilitation place for her to get help with horrid pain and get her on her feet to recovery. Pain is a life changer if you have dealt with it you know what I mean some days you just don’t think life is worth living and we are grateful she now does. I have not really been close to my brother since Dad died he went his way in sadness and me in mine but on Mother’s Day we had a great one! He even snuck in our Mom’s cat which I swear was the turn around in her sadness that and we laughed together for 4 hours it really is the best medicine isn’t it.
I did not ask if I could make them famous with adding their photos here so I won’t but they are just what my heart needed. I am so blessed and grateful for all the prayers said.

The yard is coming back slowly but surly after one nasty winter. I have mowed one section the part down alongside the river twice already. The bears are causing a ruckus up and down the roads in the area I call home. The birds are full of the sweetest sounds. You can not help but feel joy when sounds of nature fill you head from sun up till sun down.

Why do I paint the house lol for them to move in I guess.  I am happy they love my place just wish they were not so messy :)

Yes I am still taking photos but I have been painting up a storm as well, no surprise for you all I am sure :).
I received a message from a friend that she wanted to commission me for a piece of Artwork. I laughed and said “I am no artist” I am just chilling :) She insisted she wanted me to do a painting with just two trees with a lively background so I whipped out 2 watercolors for her to choose from. They are for her granddaughter’s 2 nd birthday she is creating an art collection for her. With each passing birthday she will acquire a work of art depicting the age she will be in the subject matter. This will not be an easy thing in my eyes to pull off after 5 :) so this year being 2 she wanted two trees from me. I did them on 11×15 in the vertical way on 140lb paper. I will let you see.

It was stressful to make something for someone personal but I am sure in time I can relax more and just do my thing.

I thank you for the follows and hope you have a wonderful weekend!  It will rain here damn I wish I could send it west to put out all the fires but since I can’t I will clean the house, paint and see Mom.

Surgery was April Fool’s Day

The last day of March I was not allowed a midnight snack as I would finally go in to have the shoulder addressed.

April Fool’s Day no wonder I was moved up no one else wanted to take a chance I on the other hand was hoping for less pain and more use.

I had PT the next day yes real quick and tomorrow the stitches come out and more work twice a week for 6 to 8 weeks will begin in earnest.

I have a ice cuff I put on after exercises so I have no need for medication.

Life is good!

My son had another show last night in WY and I sat at home painting Roses he had Rose Art to sell and neither of us planned any of it I just decided to chill before surgery with a few hours of painting with a Artist from Russia that lives here locally in NH  her name is Marina Forbes.

So all is well just been doing nothing much at all really

Today the plan is to ride down into the city and meet one of the Bloggers I met when I first started mine here.  Maybe a quick lunch somewhere and my man can hunt the coastline and JT can meet one of her admirers :)
I will stop by my Moms on way out of Boston as she just had a procedure the same day I did.

Love to all of you

What I did before surgery they did not turn out looking like the Rose in my course  but  I relaxed and that was my only mission in all that pain

All of my stories, tips and information move forward from the first post. Therefore, because the blog’s format is backwards, this last entry has become the conclusion! However, because it is the “Home Page,” it is important for me to explain a few things that I have shared earlier in my blog. I have set up a new blog where those who I follow and who follow me can post what they make.  Handcrafted items made by YOU.

Do a blog post and add it here and I will promote it in my stores and get the word out as well.

I know it has my bracelet on header but ideally once a week to have one of your photos run there would be fun too!

Email me at Eunice356@gmail and let me know if you make something you would like to have showcased and generate some sales on.  Once I add you as a contributor you can post or I can re-blog if you do a post on your blog.

So Busy Doing Nothing At All

Do you have times in your life where you seem to be very busy but are really doing nothing at all.

How did my life get so simple?

I used to blog everyday.

I made Jewelry every week.

I walked the beaches all winter long and early summer mornings and captured the Sunrises along the Atlantic.

I went away in March and came back profoundly changed and at peace. So much so I don’t do much of anything really.

Yes I wake after 4 or 5 hours of sleep and have two cups of coffee, fresh ground. I eat a simple good for me breakfast as I answer emails play a game of words on Facebook all the while tossing a toy to JT. Then I wash up the few dishes sweep the floors and make the bed. I shower and get dressed and grab my camera JT grabs her Frisbee and off we go to walk the property. Playing catch and snapping photos. Not much plant wise happening here. so much rain, nutrient’s washed away and plants are stalled. I have yet to have the Monarchs show up good thing end of July and Butterfly Bush has yet to open as a way to welcome them here.

My food garden is sad. I have had two cucumbers, one tomato lots of basil and some lettuce. Tonight I snipped Dill for our Tuna fish sandwiches.
Corn is only just over my knee and I am short.

All those pretty shots you saw the last year have either rotted or refused to bloom so I have been busy with Dragonflies. They have been so willing too. I have them all on My Portfolio blog and re-blogged to 20 Lines or Living and Lovin. I am sure I will lose the bloggers I have on my list of followers but truly what should I write about. I have changed so much I hardly even know me.

I joined a Gym can you imagine. I am also in PT for left shoulder. I am still going to Weight Watchers though I do want to quit as I think I can save the $40 a week and do it on my own but then I think I need to get out of the house as winter will soon be arriving and all that damn shoveling once again so I need to be healthy.

With Meditation I have learned to relax but sadly I LIKE that A LOT!!!

So I will try to add some color and interest to this unexciting post the best I can.

This is one of the Garden Club Lilies in Bloom with a pretty insect .  That’s right when it is not raining I spend an hour with a water can watering all the clubs plants.

After I pick fresh berries with the pup and her toy and my camera I make a plate with Greek Yogurt and delish berries.
Yes my kitchen had red counters hard to bounce the flash properly when hungry and tired and no tripod set up.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

He kept telling me to come get photos of the last clutch for the year, her third.  He then found a baby dead on the stairs below this nest.  Lousy photo as I did not want another to be lost and the next day the nest day was empty.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

As he worked in the back yard all spring and summer he got to watch them grow then fly away and she sat on more.  This is right over the entrance into the beautiful barn I have  in the back yard.  As someone would approach the Mom would bolt to the trees beside the barn and then he would make sure he always closed the door so she did not fly in and die inside while her little ones went without and would die as well.  He is learning to live as one with nature here for which I am very happy.

Inspiration comes in many forms but when it happens to me I either grab a camera or my Blue Tray upon which I do my Beading.

I head into the spare bedroom,  though there is no bed and open up the many drawers and containers I have full of beads.  As I poke around I zero in on the colors I have available.  I used to just have colors of the Sea.  I have been beading for two years now and have some of each color it seems.

So with tray in one hand I begin to add beads, needles, thread and findings to complete a project.  Who knows if I will sit and work it to the end or put it aside half-finished for a later day.

Even when gathering the supplies to make something pretty and new,  I slip into THE ZONE.  You have to or the creative juices can stop flowing,  even before you begin.

Now with all I think I will need,  piled high upon my blue tray,  I sit at the table over looking the yard and river with my dog and cat close by.  I add the string to my needle,  usually Fireline so the piece will last for years and then I use the needle to pick up one tiny seed bead at a time.  I like using 15’s and 11’s the best.  They are very tiny.  I have to focus or prick myself.

As I sit and pick up each one and add them into my design it starts to come together nicely and as I do the world seems to stop.  Yes I enter THE ZONE rather quickly when I place that Blue Beading Tray in front of me.

Do you BEAD?

Have a great day getting lost in THE ZONE!

GOOD SUNDAY MORNING EVERYONE

Well spring has arrived here in NH and that means added joy and hope for better days ahead, not just for me but for all living things who need this planet to survive themselves. I hope the weather in your spot here on earth is not under water.  I want my old planet back when you could count on normal weather but sadly we have done so many things wrong and usually it is not the super wealthy who get hurt the most.  Not fair that I can say.

So I wanted to let you know I am so happy, no not just because of the flowers starting to bloom or the heat being turned of for most of the day but REALLY HAPPY, filled with joy from letting go of STUFF,  physically and mentally purging is good for one’s soul,  house too!    Have you started spring cleaning yet?

My son and I are back to being able to speak to one another and for that all the pain I went through for 10 days was worth it.  LOL  He is happy and putting tons of ART out there  and having fun isn’t that what we all want for our children.

I have been getting more of my prints out there for sale and soon will step back into my studio to melt some glass and see what this new joy will look like in beads and fused objects.  I will do some more Zentangle as well but all of that will wait till gardens are in and house is painted 1/2 a house painted has to end!

Beading with tiny seed beads has taken a backseat for now I just have actually been to busy and too happy to sit still and ouch the body feels it!  I may do a piece for special people or myself but not for sale anymore as they want them for free  see you can teach an old dog new tricks!

So let me add a photo for you all let me know if you LIKE IT lol

Hi Everyone

Well today is the day before my son’s birthday.  So many years ago I was contemplating my motives and listening to my heart. Not knowing the next day would be labor and he would come into the world.  That he was healthy was all that mattered to me.  I took good care of myself while pregnant.  Lots of woman had children, I would be OK.  Never knew how sadness could destroy a soul,  hell I was young,  so very young.  This is a photo of me 2 years before. My High School Year Book photo with  wet hair and clothes as it poured when me and Mom were walking in Lowell,   a rain cloud opened up no big deal I didn’t want a photo or to be in the book.

100_5572

Grandma had given me the pretty silver spoon.  It was a pin meant to be worn and I adored her,  so I did.  Who knew in the 80’s things such as this were used for drugs.  In fact since I was never into drugs,  cocaine never entered my thoughts as I gave my copy of this photo to Mike.  He saw the spoon and guess it took on a different meaning never knowing who I was or for that matter who I really am now.  Do not know how he was raised but they were older than me so maybe they were wild in the 60’s  I still pray they were not.

So this is a story on us the we that never was to be.    I do not know anything really about Mike except he grew up not to far from me.  He could have been a wild child.  I was so young I never thought they would tell him he was not theirs.  Why would they he was 3 days old.  Then for him to turn 18 and get angry I was not at the door asking for him.  See heartache was not mine and mine alone.  I know I would never take the life of a child through abortion unless it could not live but I am here to say that must be a hard decision to make,  same as the one I did.  I wanted him to have two loving parents and I trusted this older woman at the adoption agency to only allow good people to come through that door and fill out applications swearing they would be.  I chose the couple from a book full of smiling faces who all said they wanted a baby of their own.  Well I hand-picked his,  if she told me the truth.  I have grown a lot since then and know too much.  I know one thing for certain they paid a lot to get a blonde haired blue-eyed,  white male baby in 1977,  that was healthy and weighed  8  lbs  9 oz.  I doubt he ever went a day in his life without being given every opportunity possible for a young man. Life was good!  I made that life he had possible.  With God watching over me all these years I know I did right by him , they were not me but they had to love him.  Then they had a child of their own,  a daughter not sure how that came to be I really don’t care I am just glad he was not an only child,  he had a little sister.  Sure the dynamics of his life must have changed for him , he was only 2 or 3 but he had a family.

Now to the part where we meet by phone.  I emailed the agency and asked if they knew if he was OK,  I had just lost my Dad and had the need to know.  She called right back when I hit send, asking me “Where have you been your son has been looking for you?”  First thought was WHY?  Come on he was 32 years old.  They had my parents contact information all those years and never a word.  Maybe the time was not right.  Maybe he never cared to know who I was or who his birth family was.  Remember he had EVERYTHING.   So I take down the information she said he left for me and I hang up the phone.  She gave me his and his parents information so I wrote to them.  I asked if he was OK and if they were OK with him wanting me to call or write him.  They never bothered to write to me so of course I had the story worked out in my head already,  I knew all the answers. Funny how we can do that.  Next thing I did was make the call to the numbers he left and just said “Hi it’s Eunice I got a message from agency to call you.”  Pretty short and sweet   Scared to death all he wanted to do was scream at me for giving him to them.  When he did not call back that day yes I was expecting he would,  he is the one who said if she shows up please have her contact me, so I sat and wrote a letter , really too long and gut wrenching with too much family information included for him  as I now look back on it.  I figured if he had changed his mind about wanting to speak to me at least he would know who I was and who his uncles and grandparents were.  Medical stuff too.  I have spent many days since then wishing I had never called the agency.  No one needs to visit deep pain over and over it doesn’t do any good and for me it has been horrible.  Had they just said he had a wonderful life and I should be so proud,  it would have been so much better.

So finally Mike, that is what they named him, called me.  He was happy from doing some wild things while on skis out on his mountain range.  He said he had been scared to call me.  WHY?  This has been my question since learning about him from agency.  Remember he is 32 always knew or from age 2 or 3 that he was adopted so why now at 32 was he still so worried about ME?

We talked for hours and hours and learned what anyone could through a phone.   That was in March of 2008.   Then in May that year for Mother’s Day he sent me a beautiful email with photos of him and his dog.  Then a few more calls,  then nothing.  So he was all set but I wasn’t.

I finally was hurt enough to leave a message or email can’t really remember now saying when he grew up to come see me.  Get the answers face to face.  See who I really was.

He showed up that October days before Halloween and we spent the afternoon together at the beach him and I and the two dogs while Ron detected and gave me my space.  We had a lunch together,  seafood like this is not really the same out west.

I told him to go back to his family in Maine they would be worried sick about him,  he didn’t want to leave but my heart was hurting and I just wanted to go home.  We hugged each other goodbye. We have not spoken since.  Emails yes but no calls.  His parents went off the deep end when he got back to their summer home on the island.  It destroyed him and his joy that day.  So he shuts me off to not hurt them.

That following Feb. 19th a woman calls me asking how to get to my home she has a delivery for me I laughed and told her not me I didn’t order anything.  She assured me I would welcome her.  She arrived and she was the driver for a florist.  She delivered a bouquet of long stem Red Roses in a tall Red glass vase with a beautiful card from Mike thanking me for having him.   I sent an email thanking him.

Years passed by and still no calls .  Only word from him was an occasional  email. Maybe I am just not the make believe Mother he had made up in his head too bad as actually I am so much better than an imaginary one.

Then he joined Facebook and I could see his artwork that he did with spray paint.  He is very talented.  Hard on himself yes.  All artists are deep and troubled aren’t they .

Here is something he sent me, made by him just two Christmases ago or was it three.

100_5568

I love the artwork he shares  where he lives,  as well as opening up finally on his  own  Artist Facebook page.  I know it is not easy for him to share.

He doesn’t understand when I say I want no more art for my home.  I can’t take anymore pain from loss.  I know I was a strong trucker for so many years but with wreck  I had in 2000 and all that has taken place since I am just happy to be alive and know he is as well.

So tomorrow it is his birthday and I will not wish him a happy birthday as it is their day.  He is theirs.  So yes it has always been a horrible day for me to get through and usually I walk the local beach as I did so long ago, well 36 years ago.  Happy Birthday to Mike.  I do wish him the very best.

So now you know the story and why I will welcome the retreat he went to and wants the love for me.  Hell I want the LOVE FOR ME it has been too long!

Sorry for such a heavy post but every action has a reaction doesn’t it.

Love you all.
Thanks for all the support you always show me.

I know you have probably seen the shells that sit along the high tide mark but do you know about Border Collie Art?

She is so well-bred that she leaves an amazing piece of artwork, all along the beach,  as we make or way onto it

for a game of Frisbee.

Can you see her moves up above?

On and on she goes

Round and Round

Catching it

Dropping it at my feet and heading back out for another loop to get ready to catch it again.

I know some of you may tire of my talk about this pup but she really is what keeps us smiling day in and day out pain and all.

She is a beautiful artist,  well at least in our eyes.

Other dogs just come to PLAY she seems to have a method to her madness as do I.

ART

Two local companies  represented

Each year special sand is trucked in for our Hampton Beach Sand Castle Competition.

They work with very few breaks.

Rain and Wind are a given for this competition.

Sunburns too!

They pack the sand.

They use cool tools, most of which we can find at home.

Straws even.

Thousands come by during the week to watch them build,  then to cast their vote.

This is just the “crowds favorite”  sandcastle.

There will be judges who will pick the top ones,  who will get the CASH PRIZES.

Do you have sandcastle contests where you live?

I love seeing what they come up with year after year.

They work under bright lights, into the night this is when we go to just enjoy , sunrise is when I go for the photos.

Hope you enjoy playing  in the sand when you hit the beach.
