Garden Club Fundraising really is hard.

There are now four of us in the club and they work full time.

So I try to do too much.  Then I get overwhelmed and it is no longer FUN.

See FUN and making a difference was all I was after.

Guess all the shoulder pain has been getting me down as well but saw the surgeon the other night he is letting me have 6 more weeks of home exercises to see if I can free up the left one.  I may take another shot and get through a winter of nasty snow shoveling then let him go in and clean out the junk it is somewhat odd though as I am a righty!

So back to the club and all I have been able to do of late.

I wrote a few press releases for local publications one came off the press this past week the next hopefully will be in Thursday’s edition.  I have an Ad running on our local cable channel I have satellite so I can not see how it looks.  One of the woman who works in our town hall office made me up flyers and offered to add some to the desk where people who stopped in would see them and hopefully support our efforts.

You see we are taking orders for gorgeous Poinsettia.  Three sizes. From ones that would be pretty decorating a staircase in your home for the holidays or huge beauties for atop a piano or in a foyer.  Then a medium size as well for hostess gifts or does everyone just expect wine these days.  I am not a drinker but pretty, live plants, now that is a different story!   We are only offering traditional RED ones.   They can go to Wal-Mart or a local garden shop for all the other varieties they will need to finish off their  home or businesses.  The plants will sell for $5.00, $10.00, 18.00.  Under $20.00 for a gift of true beauty I thought would be easy to sell.
Maybe it is just not easy for one or four to get the word out.  No matter how many times I post the photos and the prices the question is always HOW MUCH?  Did I say I am so glad it is the season to REST!  Well gardening outside will be placed on hold till spring in these parts.

We have a Facebook Page maybe you can LIKE it for me Epping Garden Club.  I need feedback and you are all so terrific at that maybe I am doing it all wrong.

I have also been making items for the Holiday Fair I signed up to do.  Funny I swore them off.  Wish me LUCK!

So with selling photos, making things and finding home for stunning plants will be keeping me busy and freeing up the frozen shoulder to avoid surgery. After seeing the doctor I stopped into Wentworth Greenhouses in Rollinsford New Hampshire to see how the plants were coming along.  Here is the fun part sharing with you.

This last one I took is also being offered in all my stores as a Holiday Card, as it is very cheerful. Maybe I should go get my plants now and fill up the house with color as all I have now are those SPIDER PLANTS!

The Bumble Bees Are Everywhere!

DSC_0818

I swear today they were so intent on getting inside as many flowers as they could sometimes sharing each bloom with one or two others no wonder the petals end up looking so beaten up.

DSC_0824

Off to search for its own bloom.

DSC_0816

Got in close to one without getting stung.  This is actually a tree covered with these sweet-smelling blooms.  Right now it is in a containers not sure where to plant it with winter on its way.  Maybe my bedroom hehe

DSC_0814

Close-up of a Spider plant baby.  I have four that love summer as much as me.  After the chance of last frost I set them out side for sun and rains.  I will take them in once I hear weather is making a turn for the worse or cover with a comforter from the bed yes all who call this place home are taken care of  lol

DSC_0791

I am telling you Bees I have Butterflies NOT SO MUCH

DSC_0788

I love how Sunflowers such as this one form.  I love the structure of them.  No matter how tall they get they stay up and turn their pretty faces and follow the sun from when it comes up on the east side of my garden all the way till Sunset.  Nature has always amazed me lol yes I know I am STRANGE :)  but that’s why you LOVE ME hehehe

Please forgive these photos as I am learning 2 new cameras by trial and error

DSC_0786

How is this for a BRIGHT BEAUTY  I used the HDR setting for this one.

DSC_0780

Each year I end up with a gift.

This is the Morning Glory that has grown within my garden and has 3 blooms that close as the day gets longer if you sleep in you would miss this beauty.  I swear it is amazing to look at this one. I can not get the beautiful light shining from within to simmer down so I can show you the inside. Sorry past my capabilities.

Here it is from a few more angles.  The gift I see each morning with JT and the cat and my second cup of coffee.

DSC_0779

One last view

DSC_0778

Well I have a couple of more blogs to write some photos to share on Facebook and check to see if I had any sales.

I am very tired JT has been sick and it is wearing heavy on my heart so I will let you go to enjoy your Friday night and here in the states to enjoy your long holiday weekend let us pray we will not go to war.  I am so sorry for the loss of life in the country of Syria but who would come to flatten our White House should the government here ever do that to us. NO ONE.  I am so tired of WAR I only want Peace and Joy and Laughter.  I will bow my head in prayer to stop this craziness.  Meditate too as well as turn off the News for it seems so little is good these days.

Stay safe everyone.

Miss you all

We had our Garden Club plant sale yesterday wish it had been a sell out.

Painted almost the whole front side of our house today,  ouch too much.

It has  been so gorgeous here like a present for what we had to deal with this past winter.

I hope you are seeing better weather.  We go to Boston tomorrow and for the first time I am uneasy about traveling to the city I adore.  Mom has doctor appointment at one of the hospitals the wounded were taken to.

I am hoping to write a few stories and share some more photos I already have the photos in camera now to download them onto laptop and WRITE

Miss you all

CHURCHILL’S part 2

100_4877

I attended a free talk today on Orchids.  What a beautiful and peaceful place to enjoy, on a winter’s day.  You need to swing by if you are local and have never stepped inside.  They are all very friendly and you will get a warm welcome from all including Oliver

100_4869

He will say Hello and even laugh when you do.  Not sure he liked my flash but he never stopped talking and even said Good-Bye.

100_4871

So precious placed in a beautiful garden.  I must shop for my new English Garden I will be adding here at home.

100_4872

I must say Oliver has the prettiest home I wouldn’t mind staying her either.

100_4875

Thanks to CHURCHILL’S for allowing me to take photos of their beautiful shop in Exeter, New Hampshire.  Stop in I am sure you will love it as well and if you are reading this from another part of the US stop in one of your local garden centers and for those of you who follow me from all over the world should you find yourself in NH call me I will show you around.

PEACE

Eunice

100_4877

It is mid January here in New Hampshire and Churchill’s advertised a “FREE” talk on growing Orchids, I had to attend.  Nancy told us all about different types of orchids and their needs.  Water, food and light and airflow.   They are delicate but there are so many we can grow here, if we can give them the right mix of all of these.

100_4844

We were taught to pick between bark and charcoal mix or long moss for growing orchids in.  We need to feed them so they grow strong with bright green leaves but not real dark leaves though.  We learned that after the blossoms are gone and after a short rest,  we can gently remove it from their pot and trim off any soft, unhealthy looking roots, and give them a little bath to remove all old bark mix and prepare it to go back into the pot with fresh mix added.  A great way to give them enough humidity she said was to set out a tray of stones,  deep enough to hold a little water and sit the plant on top of the stones,  just not in the water.  These are plants that love tropical surroundings, so the more you can do to your home to get it as close to the real thing,  the happier your orchids will be.  They will show you with beautiful blooms and bright green leaves.

100_4843

This plant was so beautiful,  forgive me for the light, after all  we were in a beautiful greenhouse that was so warm and toasty. A perfect place to spend a few hours shopping for plant for your home.  They are having a sale right now and with the photos I will add to the two blogs I am doing on Churchill’s , you will see that they have so many beautiful choices. More on part 2

100_4847

This orchid is growing in a clear pot and you can clearly see by the roots that once the blooms have faded and rested a new pot with fresh bark mix will be on order as well as a pot just a little bigger.

100_4849

A beautiful plant looking for a new home to grace,  as well as the supplies you can buy here to keep it beautiful,  for many years to come.  Who said New Hampshire is too cold for pretty plants.

100_4850

After the talk we went shopping.  This greenhouse is filled with all different kinds of plants for your home.  African Violets are on my left,  some Boston Ferns on my right.  A pretty plant stand holds a fern.  It is not just about plants,  it is about your home.  Statuary and fountains as well as gorgeous pots are  here too.

100_4851

For me and the others who attended the talk today it was all about the ORCHID

100_4852

So pretty aren’t they and 25% off

100_4853

I swear these are my prettiest house plants, don’t let my enormous Spider plant hear me.

100_4854

This one found a new home with me!  I think it will look lovely in my Turquoise living room with all the windows.

100_4857

Tiny ones and Tall ones

100_4859

OH I want to make one of these, see them sitting on the table here.

100_4860

This is a Pitcher Plant have you ever seen one before?  Do you have one?

Ok time to post this part one and start on part 2 of my afternoon at CHURCHILL’S in Exeter NH

Stop by and see the wonderful people who work here.

Peace

Eunice

The Shasta’s are all in BLOOM

I love these pretty white flowers with the yellow centers.

I love how they grow in clumps all by themselves.

I took these photos in my yard as the breeze was blowing.

I forgot how much of a challenge it could be to get a  macro shot and  an action shot at the same time.

I will be pouring over my flower photos and picking out perfectly captured ones, to add to my  Zazzle store ,where

others can buy them on a post card or note card  or a  shirt or even a hat!   I have some I have already made into US Postage Stamps.

Shadow Play

Zany for Zinnias

I realy try to keep this place we call home pretty no mater what season, but with ten years of horrible flooding(due to one simple beaver dam)and having FEMA help me as well as the state, I try to honer all that I have had help with by making this place nice to look at, as well as food for the birds and insects(as long as they don’t eat the HOUSE!

So attached are some photos of the Zinnias I plant from seed each year to later be devoured by the wildlife here.  Working together has always been MY PLAN!

Image

This Zinnia looks as if it was spray painted and the Red is aout to drip off the petal.

Image

I usually buy packages of mixed seeds so I am never sure how they will look, but in nature they all seem to go together.

Maybe the plant, shadow play, or wildlife upon it!

Let me if you like them. Please.

These Butterflies looked all beat up when they arrived in our yard.

Image

They were so busy with what they needed to do they buried themselves in their WORK

Image

Cosmos is one flower I grow in the Garden too.  I love the photos I get of huge Bumble Bees on them

Image

Not really purple  sorry, maybe Green with Envey over all these Hummingbirds I get lol

Image

A pretty Hanger I received for Mother’s Day

Image

See how messed up it appears above?

Image

With the mild winter we had everything including the Lilacs, grew like crazy!  I took about 1/3 off all off them so my home would once again smell incredible.  I think if they get to tall I will miss their smell.

lol
