Well some of you know I garden and others know I joined the local garden club and helped make a few corners pretty here is an update on that part of my life.
This past Sunday we held a Plant Sale to raise money and to get others to add pretty flowers to their landscapes. Let me show you what we had.
You can not be seen any better in out town on a Sunday morning unless you were signing in church.
We had Perennials and Mums that were not quite open yet just enough to show what color they were going to be.
See just beginning to show their beautiful blooms.
We planted 4 in two of our intersections and two at the town hall, three at the Safety Complex, and just three at the intersection close to my home since that one was so full of color already.
This is one of two planters that sit at the top of the stairs leading into our small towns Town Hall. Pretty work our member did. Remember there are just 5 of us and all part-time.
We are loving how they are filling in and are praying this winters snow plows do not destroy all of our hard work.
Hope you live in a town with a garden club who does things like this to make it special. We just have 3 corners done so far but that’s not bad for 1 year and all that digging and re-planting and part timers.
JT grabbed her Frisbee and me the camera and we went to walk the property so I could pick up any branches that may have come down it the nasty winds. You will see there is no snow. Plenty chilly today. The cat for some reason was running like she was a kitten again she is 12 now. So I toss the disc over and over while making sure the cat did not leave and head out into the coyote filled woods, all the while capturing parts of our yard before it gets covered in snow, the 2 or 3 in. we had last week melted with warmer temps and torrential rains. The river is actually at flood stage or 2 in. below today. Time to share our stroll around the yard.

Have you heard of the Big Box store LOWES?
Let me tell you a little about our local store here in our town.
They try to help the communities they build their stores in.
They give grants to the local clubs and schools for building supplies and plants.
Well in this case a past Garden Club president applied for and won a grant to make a few
spots in our town a little prettier with the gift of a grant from Lowes.
We had a wonderful summer but really to hot for workers and plants.
Today I the secretary of the Garden Club met with two wonderful woman. They brought
with them Rose bushes, Coreopsis,Aster and Heavy Metal Switch Grass. They
also brought some soil and peat moss. The HR woman from our store was able to bring with her
today on a cloudy misty morning, one worker and I joined them as a member of the garden club.
I brought a rake, broom and garden fork and a pickup truck full of bark mulch , donated by our town.
The three of us got busy Melody from HR dug, we filled holes with mix and plants then we all
raked it out and added the bark mulch. In the end the intersection looked so pretty, well until we had to
put the POLITICAL SIGNS back up :( Can’t wait till NH votes and the signs DISAPPEAR!
Next summer I will do an update post on this to show you how it filled in. Wish our club luck.
We need more members as we live in a HUGE town.
Well that is the end of today’s story.
Show and tell will begin next year after our nasty winter comes and goes.
Thanks so much again Lowes for making a section of our town BEAUTIFUL
Now let’s hope the drivers SLOW DOWN and appreciate the work that has been done
in their section of town.
What did you do this morning? Have a great weekend!
I will be resting with the injured pup on the couch hope she shares her ICE

So many Butterflies this year
Even ones with wings so battered and bruised
I would be so sad but it doesn’t appear to slow them down.
I have maybe thirty more days till they start to leave
The garden where they safely sit, will be tilled under
and I will trim the bushes they enjoy and mulch them to help them thrive during our
long winter, it is all I can do.
As each flower blooms
They show up
Do I learn to hang traps
or lay poison down to kill them as grubs
I grow everything here with no chemicals
Isn’t there anything in my yard that keeps them in check.
Years ago I protected the willow they loved but now each Rose that opens there is one or two on each
