Been Busy

So far behind I saw I have 300 of your blogs I have yet to see.  Getting this place squared away is becoming a full time job and all I want to do is create.  Don’t feel bad :) I work around here potting up flowers and cutting the lawn and am now thing of building a set of stairs leading down to the lower yard so I can weed whack easier.  We had a small straight tree fall one day and it has laid where we left it after cutting off all the limbs it is time for me to re-purpose.  I will make some cuts into the hill and add a piece of tree then cut a little further down and do another level till I am at the bottom and have used the whole tree!  Yes eventually it will rot and become one with the soil but it’s OK by then I will not want to mow this place anymore.  My man misses mowing so I have him do things around here I can’t.  Like he is taking the pieces from our gazebo and re-purposing them into a structure I can use as a greenhouse.  I will ask him to dig a root cellar too!  He has taken apart a generator for one piece to use on our windmill so we can do away with that bank of HUGE batteries and go direct from wind to plug I like the idea of living green and using things till they are trash and even then I recycle them into their proper container at the town dump.

Update on Mom she finds out today if she can come home which means I will go stay with her for 5 days a week at her home.  I will cook and clean for her. I will take her through her rehab moves and get her to appointments and do shopping for her.  My brother needs rest and less worry he is not well and if I can do this for the two of them it is the least I can do.  Since Dad died we have not been a close family pain and hurt and loss can do that or in some families it can make your stronger.  I will do all I can and not kick myself for things I can’t.  I have come a long way in a year and for that I am so grateful.

Just got word from son that the piece he sent to NYC Art Museum for a auction to help the gallery sold for more than $6,000.00 my wish is that he now sees himself as a true artist and not a troubled soul.  Good news from all sections of my life and yet more reasons to be filled with joy.

The birds greet me each morning with beautiful songs and the bears have not bothered us for awhile but I bring in seed for the night but then mice came in for seed and cat worked overtime :) all is finally right and hole repaired!  Way I see it if a mouse can come in so can a SNAKE and that will not happen on MY WATCH!

I have been taking photos and adding them into my online stores with early morning coffee while the home is full of sleeping sounds from the three of them and in the evenings while watching my music shows The Voice and American Idol I paint.  I am trying to do a body of work as my teacher asked me to do.  I have chosen trees for now but have no idea of the best way to preserve them and keep them clean and ready to share when I am ready.  If you are an artist how do you do this?  I am too prolific to fame each piece and really just want them ready so when asked to show portfolio they look as nice as when I signed them.  Not sure what to do.  Most of mine are made to float not for mats.  So much easier to take a photo and sell them as prints or as a shower curtain or some bedding or maybe a card.  50 to 100 pieces of Watercolor Art is ALOT how do you do it?

I will leave you with one I just did and a photo or two of my flowers and my wish for you all here in the US is for a safe and wonderful Memorial Day weekend it will be my BLOGS anniversary when I first met some of you dear friends another reason for gratitude.  For those in other countries you know I wish you well and what ever the weather in your part of the world I hope you are enjoying it and getting out as well.  Life is too short to let it fly by.

I am working on catching up with as many of you as I can.  Have a great week!

Surgery was April Fool’s Day

The last day of March I was not allowed a midnight snack as I would finally go in to have the shoulder addressed.

April Fool’s Day no wonder I was moved up no one else wanted to take a chance I on the other hand was hoping for less pain and more use.

I had PT the next day yes real quick and tomorrow the stitches come out and more work twice a week for 6 to 8 weeks will begin in earnest.

I have a ice cuff I put on after exercises so I have no need for medication.

Life is good!

My son had another show last night in WY and I sat at home painting Roses he had Rose Art to sell and neither of us planned any of it I just decided to chill before surgery with a few hours of painting with a Artist from Russia that lives here locally in NH  her name is Marina Forbes.

So all is well just been doing nothing much at all really

Today the plan is to ride down into the city and meet one of the Bloggers I met when I first started mine here.  Maybe a quick lunch somewhere and my man can hunt the coastline and JT can meet one of her admirers :)
I will stop by my Moms on way out of Boston as she just had a procedure the same day I did.

Love to all of you

What I did before surgery they did not turn out looking like the Rose in my course  but  I relaxed and that was my only mission in all that pain

Fat Tuesday!

Here in the US IHOP is serving up FREE PANCAKES!

Tonight I will make a favorite from Bourbon Street

Jambalaya, I will pass on the King Cake as I am already

lucky indeed

:)

Sunday was my best friends birthday who I heard each year

growing up say “I’m 3 days older than you!  Well I would remind her

when she turned 50 I would still be 49
:)
Just keeping it real even back then.

Next week the skin cancer on my face will be removed and then I have to take my marriage certificate to the government agency in order to prove I am entitled to my ex-husband SS check.  I was told he passed away after Christmas.  So many things I could say but it is best to just pray he now rests in peace as now I finally can.

Not sure I will be any better off financially,  as I do not know what he has been doing for work if anything, since last seeing him in 1997.  Even $10.00 more each month will cover one month electricity each year.

I have been thinking I want to build a Coyote/Hawk proof chicken coop, on skis or wheels, so they can safely free range the property eating all the bugs from one spot to the next.  Eggs are a big part of my diet.  You see protein helps to keep you full and satisfied longer than empty carbs say like a bag of chips :)  I have a friend who is a Body Builder and has been a inspiration to get back into shape pain or no pain and she devourers a dozen a day!  I could also sell them for $3.50 a dozen for Organic Eggs and still have plenty for me and cover the cost of anything I would feed them over what they find in the yard.

Can you just picture me outside with my Watercolors watching the chickens peck the ground and clucking all day while that cute little Border Collie begs for yet another toss of her FRISBEE,  yes friends life is good, well till I look outside and see RELAITY!  It is below 0 temps F and snow up to my head or higher in some piles but seeing where some gradual melt has occurred under trees up on the sunny hill, where there is DIRT!

Always hopeful that is me in a NUTSHELL!

Stay safe everyone

THANK YOU

I have to thank you for doing the poll on Orchids for me. A couple came about ahead but not by a landslide I think it says you are all so kind lol or that you also adore Orchids.  I am in good company.  Again thanks for your help.  Now if it got warm I could take their photo in natural light :)

For all of you facing mudslides, heavy snow and monsoons please stay safe.  I will say a prayer as March begins that weather settles down this is going to be a scary thaw otherwise.

HUGS & Love you you all

CHRISTMAS FLEW BY

Image

So Fast Indeed……. sorry lousy FAST photo, pretty color though :)

It was windy and cold so we stayed home.  JT was tired of staying in so I slid my boots on and wrapped a warm scarf across my head and face lol I must be getting old :) and when I grabbed the camera she ran off to get her Frisbee.  She is too smart but I must have told you that before.  Most of us are now old friends. I still didn’t have my coat on and she was running back and forth from the door to me in the kitchen.  Going on 8 but some days more like a two year old.

I took her out to the area that was clear of snow and where the least ice was on the bare ground. Last thing either us needs is an emergency room on Christmas morning.
Image

As you can see by the shadows it was a sunny day but very cold, too cold to go to walk the beach in Maine as we had planned.  Besides between VT and Maine over 100,000 were having Christmas with no power. Most people up here in the northeast are smart about having two sources of fuel to heat their places with.  We have propane that almost ran out before he showed up Christmas Eve at almost 6 PM and back up is nut coal, I love coal heat. We use propane for cooking too and now we have an electric water heater I have never had one of them before but with gas stove I can light the burner with a match and boil water in a pinch.

I needed to rest my shoulder after I threw her toy over and over so I asked her if she wanted to go see if we could find some beaver.  She led the way!
Image

So down to the rivers edge we went all the while making sure we did not slide in!
Image

See the tracks?  He pulled a section of the dam to save our land  we knew they would come but we are never quick enough to catch him in the act!
Image

Maybe if we follow these tracks we can catch him being a busy beaver seems by the vegetation here where the tracks lead to that he has chewed off most of my beautiful Forsythias.  They are tough and will grow back but I did not want them PRUNED!

Want to see how he gets here when he forgets his ice skates at his Beaver Hut?
Image

Swim out from under the ice climb across the land down to grab more of my beautiful bushes then back to his damn DAM!

I know your laughing right lol I am telling you I feel like Elmer Fudd and the rascally rabbit :)
They slip in from the water at my lower yards edge too
Image

And head right for my seriously “WEEPING WILLOW TREE ”  where JT is on it’s scent! she is such a good girl but she is a herder not a hunting dog.

Image
We hope you had a Wonderful Christmas.
We had our Christmas Ham with Baked Potato, Acorn Squash and Carrots to end the wonderful day spent together at home. No babies, no presents from a store but a warm home and hot meal what more could we ask for.  We have all we will ever need except for Peace On Earth so tonight after dessert, a simple brownie, when we close our eyes that is what we will hope the world can get as it’s gift from all of us.

With Love from me too you and a wish that you and your families travel safely so we can all await the New Year TOGETHER

Image

I wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas and for those who do not celebrate the birth of our Christ  a very Happy Holiday Season to you as well.

I remember the days of our family home on Christmas morning.  We, the three of us children,  were so very lucky to have what was waiting under our tree, be it real or the metal one with that colorful wheel.  We never knew of the struggle or the monies spent for months to follow, to pay for it all. Life is simple through the eyes of a child or that is how it seemed when I was a kid. I was blessed with a Mom and Dad. A roof over our heads and a wonderful feast laid out on the kitchen table.

For many years Thanksgiving was spent up here in New Hampshire with my Mother’s side of the family where all would come together as one and give thanks for what we had.  Back then I never gave thought of what others went through to pull it off.  They worked hard each and every day and lived within their means.  We had mini Christmas  that weekend as well because usually Dad would take us to his parents house for Christmas school break.

Dad worked all day and then worked on the car he would load up with presents which we never knew were ours, see what I mean about simple times. We were children who spent the days outside playing after school never giving a thought as too what the parents had going on.  No wonder they were stressed, I see that now. The car was packed with gifts for grandparents and us then in went all the clothes we would all need for a road trip to Nana and Grandpa’s.  You see I have since learned by trucking it was 660 miles each way.  With three rambunctious children and our dog Teddy. We made this journey from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania most Christmas holidays. Maybe that is where I found the love for the road.  Staying awake with Daddy driving in the middle of what I now know was blizzards, helping him keep track of the white line on the edge of the road.  He had his whole family with him in our old car with a piece of plywood on the folded down seat for us all to sleep.  Daddy never did and I am sure Mom tried to always stay awake so Daddy could as she was his company, on this journey.  So today with the saved tree from the dump with no gifts under it, I remain thankful for all I have ever had for it is more than many others never did.

With Daddy gone and grandparents too as well as all but two Aunts and 2 Uncles my family now three brothers and my Mom, we no longer have those times together.  That is what I miss the most as this holiday nears FAMILY.

Today I am thankful and grateful for all of you I follow and to those who follow me, for we are a family of sorts.  Sharing joy and happiness. Wonderful things to bake and make. We are there as well when sadness hurts so bad.  Thanks everyone for yet another year spent with you.

Peace On Earth Good Will To Men

So Many Things Going On

I have 169 of your posts to read then I will write something

Miss you all

Eunice

The weather in New England has been pretty amazing this summer, some heat and lots of pretty sunshine. There were times we swore it would never stop raining but it did and gardens went in and flowers began to grow.

The insects decided it was time to stop by the garden too!

The seeds I planted for food also began to show they were loving the weather.
Yes that is a String Bean blossom and bean on its way to get big enough to eat.

As you can see I love taking photos.  I just never thought to show anyone else.  I am glad you stopped by to see what I was all about.  I am evolving and growing and finding a place here on Word Press for the ones I FOLLOW to stop in and say Hello.

I tell stories, some with photos others so colorful they need none.  They are true.  I have written a few poems over on 20 Lines A Day where they are so kind.

Here are a few more photos I will someday tie into a post.

Daily Prompt: Far from Home

Arizona

Arizona

Arizona is far from home for us.  We live in the Northeast and this is the Southwest.

For me,  a Trucker I always traveled far from home but for the most part I traveled within the United States with a dash into Canada now and then.

This trip was special as the man  I loved was not given much hope of a long life so we packed up the old Chevy van with camping  supplies and Gold Prospecting equipment we already had and the pup of course and headed west.  He had never been past the military base in Texas and that was so long ago for boot camp.  He flew in and out of there.  So this would be a journey for him but for me it would be like old times, well without the shifting.

We stayed out on BLM  land for 6 or 7 weeks till we had to come back for another visit with his doctor.  He did not want to go back home least of all for more tests.  I missed home and my kitty too much to hide my head in the sand of the desert.  We loaded up the old van and said our goodbyes to all we had met and I snapped a few more photos.

We came home to good news much to their amazement.  We could once again take out the map from my old trucking days and plan a trip far from home.

I must say when I go down the list of who I follow through my blog at  Living and Lovin I see so many who are just like me.  Like minded. Nature lovers. Pet owners. Gardeners of flowers and food.

I once wondered if anyone of my friends would bother to read what I had to say and share by way of a photo here and there and quickly got a true lesson in life,  not many if any,  take the time to read what I have to say but among the thousands here at WordPress I have a circle of friends who have stuck with me,  as I began this journey and are still there just over a year latter.

Blogs come and go but I seem to have enough photos or strange stories to keep a few coming back.  They are all eclectic and lived a full life,  the same as I did and seem to appreciate all life has to offer.

Poems, story-telling and news breaking stories worthy of my re-blogs  I love them all,  for with each post they write  they share just that little bit of themselves.

I may get lost in all I have going on at times but the real connections are there and for that I am so grateful..

See what I have been doing

Stay safe everyone it is CRAZY out there.

I was still injured but I needed a job.

I used to drive a “big rig”  but then I was hit,  by that bus.

I went through the savings which were sadly,  as in most case, s never enough.

I saw an Ad in a local paper for a Special Needs School Bus Driver,  surely I could drive a small van.

I applied for the position and they could clearly see my wounds but it was the ones inside that hurt the worst.
Due to my physical injuries I was given the troubled youths to transport to schools where they did not want to attend.

Many never even bothered  to get up and shower and dress for the day,  never mind step into the van.  Very sad.

One by one as they entered my school bus I introduced myself,  the one with the huge blue knee brace on.

I asked them to buckle up and not to swear (being a trucker at this point didn’t matter) I turned on music of their liking

just not gangster rap!

I knew they all had stories about how they ended up on a bus such as this.  I did too.

I showed them respect and demanded the same right back.  Friends were  worried about me alone with them.

So many scary stories you read about children such as this.  Remember they were the worst of the worst.

No one else at the bus company would drive them willingly.  So they gave them to the New Girl!

I had a run in the morning where they were still half asleep then again in the afternoon after no nicotine.

Yes some were angry.  Many had nice parents that just could not take it anymore and turned them over to the state.

Some lived with Grandparents God Bless them.

As the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into years, two of them, I healed. So did they.  We stopped listening

to music unless it was them singing to my great-niece in an infant seat while one played the guitar.  They had

me to smile and make them feel welcomed each morning and I was their ride away from that school each day.

I had a solid group of eight who had been tossed aside.

Told they would never amount to anything.  Have you been mad enough to say that to your child?

They were so talented in so many ways, I was so proud they stuck it out and rode both ways with me.  I will always

remember these young people who not only graduated but in the end helped me to heal all the hurt inside.

They all know that they were MY SILVER LINING.

In My Spare Time

You all know how much I adore nature and photography that seems to go hand in hand with it , when it comes to me.
I wanted to show you what I have been up to in my spare time.

Yes I am free everyday to do what I want but due to money like the rest of us I chose what I do accordingly.

I am a member of our local garden club I am sure I mentioned that a few times here.  You knew we sell plants to put back into our community so here is the latest project 4 out of 5 woman in our group did.  Not bad since most are 40-mid 50’s.

100_6744

This is a shot of a downtown intersection I had moved the urn to in preparation for our Memorial Day parade.
When I placed it here after the winter plows were safely parked I had no idea how grown in and messy this spot  had become.
At our monthly meeting on the 13th it was decided we would tackle it weather permitting that upcoming weekend.
We went with shovels and rakes and trash bags too.

One of the woman in the club had borrowed her son in laws pickup to bring supplies.  We were all parked off the road in the dirt, and had been for hours when a renter in a home at this intersection gets in his truck and steps on the gas, punches it really and shoots across this busy intersection, with all of us woman working in, and proceeds to slam into the trucks drivers door WHAM!  He jumps out of his truck and proceeds to photograph where we were all parked.  I laughed at him and said “They talk about WOMAN DRIVERS!”  he got so angry, I was hoping he was drunk actually but it seems he is just not all there but still allowed to drive.  So I asked for the police to be called so we could continue to work safely.  A woman had just walked by his truck with her dog and we were going back and for with weeds, thankfully it was a truck that got hit.

So two officers arrive and the man points to ME lol what he doesn’t know is who I am and how the police know me as a hero and a hard worker.  His info was taken and he was sent on his way.  The police put out cones for us and put police tape alongside all our cars and trucks.  Then stood and  talked,  while we worked.

Now I have lived here since 1988 and know a few people who also call our town home.  So as we are working like crazy woman, up against the weather forecast, a local man with his own excavating company stopped to say hello to me on the side of the road and wondered when I had developed such a Green Thumb!
I reminded him all he never knew me as was a hard-working trucker , then so hurt after the wreck with the bus in 2000 I never had time and then I couldn’t move.
He asked if there were anything he could help me with and I asked if we could get a scoop of nice soil to really  turn this corner into a beautiful spot in time.  As we worked and tore out all the grass and weeds and junk from the area all this on a quiet Sunday morning he went off to church and his trucks worked all day on another project he was getting paid to do as a prior business owner I know those come first.  So as we completed the removal process and I loaded all the saved plant material we would place back into this area, the ladies loaded their tools into their cars and 3 of us made plans to come back at 6 PM.  Just before I took off Paul showed back up with his tri axle  dump truck with a wonderful amount of soil for us, he is good and good to me.  All the ladies had left when he showed up so him and I moved the urn out of the way and I watched him as he backed up and dumped his load of soil making sure no wires were hit or any dummies driving in behind him.

100_6746

Looks good doesn’t it.

So we go back at 6 PM before rains come and begin to shape this pile and lay down strips of fabric to keep the junk from growing back so we can keep it looking nice.  We are too old to WEED!

100_6758

The last of us here worked till dark laying the plants back in before they got to stressed.  I had watered them well when we had taken a 4 hour break but I did not want to lose one plant.

100_6764

Above is what the area looked like the next day as JT and I drove over some left over mulch the Garden Club had at my home.
I snapped this before I laid down pick up truck runs of the mulch.  It had poured all night and it looked bad I was glad I did not wait till any others would be around to help.

100_6766

This is heading down through our little town and finished intersection will be coming up on the left NEXT!

100_6777

We will add a little punch of color for the summer but in the years to come these will fill in and the bulbs will add spring color too.

I sure hope the towns people appreciate these areas we work so hard on.

We do it all on plant sales and donations.

Thanks for checking out our town and how we plan on changing one corner at a time!

100_5572

I have been here for only one year but as all of you know who are still here and follow me what a journey it has been!

I used to be the young girl above,  then shortly after so very much pain.

I  shared most of it with my followers oh wait maybe that is why  I saw a drop in numbers,  only kidding!

I know the real reason I am BORING lol

I want to thank those of you who still blog and who have shared this amazing past year with me.

I never thought in a million years I would ever find so many wonderful and amazing souls in one special place.  I am glad you are here and sharing your worlds with me!

You know me better than my family members

You love JT as much as me    :)

You put up with my not so perfect photos I share with you all and in the same breath I get better.

I introduced you to my son and now he will be back east as soon as he finishes with his job he is doing.

Life is good then again after going away for those 10 days in silence I realized it always was.

You give me so much inspiration honest you do.

I read your poems that you wrote or ones others did and let them move me.

You shared your homes and family as did I so now we no longer feel like bloggers but friends who can have too many dear loving friends?

You come from all over the world and I feel so blessed to have met you here.
You have shown me countries  I always dreamed of but will never see for myself so thanks to all of you who love photography too!

Should any of you ever travel through New England you know I will always be here to share a cup of coffee with you  for we are FRIENDS,  new yes just a year or less but still you know me well.

ACCEPTANCE SPEECH

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. ~Buddha

I wish to express my sincerest thanks to Moment Matters in selecting my blog for this prestigious honour. It is my privilege to receive this wonderful recognition of my work, an award which I am very honoured to accept and will proudly display on my blog. I am very grateful to my friends on WordPress from whom I have found inspiration and encouragement when life has thrown some “slings and arrows” my way – they have given me much-needed strength – Thank You My Friends!

This award is so important as it reminds one to appreciate when a special moment presents itself, to savour it, not to let it pass without fully embracing it – life’s too short, isn’t it? I know that in the past I’ve been guilty of letting a special moment go unrecognised because I was so preoccupied with the problems life can throw at one. This sincere recognition of one’s work and the reminder to embrace that which is magical in life helps one to see the other side, to find love and beauty in something worthwhile and wholesome, to have belief in oneself and to pass this belief on to others so they may also have an added chance to see what life’s golden treasures are.

A special moment may be a random occurrence, it may be an exciting event long-awaited with many people becoming an important part of the experience. For me personally, I regard the best moments to be the ones shared with other people! Live in the Moment and remember -

“Never do anything that you wouldn’t want to explain to the paramedics”

It is my pleasure and great honor to present this award to my super friends who live in the Moment, congratulations to you all!

Playing With My On Line Prints

Well you probably all know by now I have a Portfolio Blog for my photography.  As I pass out my business cards they have the link to that blog printed on them.  My hope some day is to fill a niche out there.  After being online with  my photography and selling some I see what competition is like.  They add weird colors,  do things I have never seen before,  guess I don’t get out much, lol.  I am glad I am there and have met some nice artist’s,  who said we were all dark and moody.  I have been accepted as well as some nice comments like you leave me.
All I want to know is if my pieces are nice to look at even if they are just on a single card.  Isn’t it what we are all about being accepted for us.

So I have been doing some small things to my pieces with hopes of being seen amongst  the 140,000+ others that use that Fine Art America site.  Yes I use TAGS like I learned to here to find you all on my list of beloved bloggers. I have loaded my galleries online with hopes that while I am away I have another sale or two.  Site cost  has been covered so it is all gravy except for the hours it takes to promote one’s self.  So that is where I spend a few hours a day straightening up photos, adding into galleries, entering competitions for fun where others from FAA  and the outside world casts a vote on what they like again 300 to 500 sign up for contests I see it as a rat race as you writer’s and photographers already know.  I am a trucker through and through that I do know how to do.

So today I took a photo from this winter at the beach and added it

lg hampton gull

Then I played with it to give it a different look

100_5630-001

In Black and White with funky dark edges

Now I did this all in the name of sales,  giving them choices of an image  and I am sure some like B&W’s but me I love my world in COLOR lots of it but it has been a winter from hell lots of snow and horribly cold like the day I took the photo of this poor gull holding on for dear life. I promised I would get out there and play this winter and in between shoveling JT and I took lots of walks while Daddy was busy finding treasure.

Funny how this all came to be isn’t it I love this winding journey I have been on.  First finding Ron after over 35 years apart then my child then all of you starting just last Memorial Day.

You all are the best I have so many awards from you and more yet to post on I hope to do another post just on them before I head out

So back to the photos which one do you like?  I say I should post only ones I adore and if there is no market I am not out of money as I had sales to cover the $30 year fee.

Love you all

We Have Been Spending Time Here

100_3750

Trying to catch up on so much before I say good-bye.

Have clothes ready.

Trying to set up online store so prints can continue to sell without me.

Getting home ready to walk away is hard.

JT and I try to walk together three days a week a slow winters walk by the sea is always nice.

I will miss her so much her daddy and the cat too of course but they will not sit by the door and whine.

A friend offered to come walk her but Ron said he will do lots of things outside with her by his side.

I have left the cat before and  him but they know I will be back.  I have always had this little black

and white dog at my side funny how important they become in one’s heart.  My son when he did this

10 day retreat had to leave his pup too,  he said it was hard but he left her with friends and that JT was in good hands and

to go heal myself.

I will try to catch up on all the blogs I follow between now and the end of the month.

I hope you are all healthy and strong and waiting on Spring to arrive like me.

Miss you all

New England In Winter Wraps

Hi everyone.  No I am not lost but usually I shovel then suffer in pain but it is the workouts that have me seeing consistent success now at the scale on Tuesdays and is getting me closer to goal which will be a HEALTY weight never scrawny .  I need my strength to make it through my meditation as well as that new English Garden I will be working on if winter ever let’s go of her death grip up here.  No don’t worry just hard on old broken bodies but my sense of humor such as it is will get me to spring  oh and the rains!  Today NH is under the spell of another huge storm and why I am getting rains when others are getting twelve more, heavy wet inches of snow  I have no idea but you know I am so grateful for each and every drop for it is melting our snowpack and snow on the roofs is shrinking too he said it was too slippery to climb up yesterday which worried me with the weight of heavy wet snow ruining so many homes and businesses elsewhere.  Well I sold my conversion van and made another friend.  She too is an author with all of you here I follow and follow me I can surely get my three written!  I sold the van to get cash to fix my pick-up the one with the PLOW kind of late now as the birds are already singing their hearts out looking for the prettiest girls in town.  I will scrub hummingbird feeders again to make sure no dust has gotten into the bags I store them in and get the seeds started for my garden even if I have to grow in 5 gal. buckets or a pallet have you seen that on Pinterest?  I think this year I will even start Sunflowers in egg cartons or yogurt cups as I have plenty of empties and this way after the diet of black oil sunflower seeds I have been going through with my wildlife so far almost 400 lbs. of seed, they will not be able to dig up the ones I hide to line my yard with.  Hard to outsmart wildlife though I am sure something hungry will come for the green growth like us and our salad greens!

So how have you all been?  Life good or hard right now?  I love hearing from you all and that some of you are regular visitors to my Portfolio Blog  please me.  You can comment on any blog.  Tell me if you like certain photo or what you don’t like remember the only thing I have ever been a professional at is a driver, a big rig driver so you can help by chiming in .  Some of you know I have been selling my photos on FAA under  Eunice Miller  and that I even set up a Facebook page that will link my photographs I have placed for sale right to their site in most cases.  If you are artists that have begun to follow my blog thank you.  Blogging has made me a better photographer still not anything to write home about but me and my little Kodak Easy Share once in a while capture something pretty and moving to some besides me for which I am thankful for isn’t that why we decide to step out of our nice comfy spot at home and reach out to the world at large with art and words.  I would not have gotten to know you all had I not taken that very first step last Memorial Day weekend.  I am blessed by each and every one of you and I think you already know that by what we have shared.

Now it wouldn’t be a Living and Lovin  blog without a photo or two so this is what I have been thinking of

100_5574

My Lilacs in full bloom calling out to all the insects and pretty butterflies that adore them as much as I do even Ron loves them  JT loves to smell them she is a girl you know and all girls love pretty flowers.

100_5328

For the bees to arrive so my fruit trees will bless us and the wildlife who also love fruit.

100_5295

Now the Forsythia that are all over this place we call home are sure signs of SPRING arriving.

Now for this year along with the new English Garden area Ron will make me a sculpture as he was a welder for 35 years before retiring early with injuries.  I am thinking something in pretty copper but maybe a mix if they can be put together with the arc from his welding rod.  He is the pro so I will let him do his thing and praise the heck out of him because he is a good man to put up with me and so much sadness though it has gotten so much better since I have stopped hiding.  So look for a blog on his artist work in the future here.

I will also divide my Hostas  for an upcoming Garden Club Plant Sale in early May and take some new Lilacs and move them to my berm on the eastern side of my property  I will add some  shoots of Forsythia on berm as well because they will look beautiful as they grow and drape along this area with the Lilacs up above with a few little pretty shaped Pines.  It will provide me with Privacy yes but mostly block the Orange Fence(plastic snow fence) from my view while I sit and tend to my garden since I do not see her as ever taking it down,  even though it sits on the towns right a way.

So for now I will look and deal with the CRUD of Winter with visions of a beautiful spring!

100_5639

We will hang out by the sea a lot till them even on a lousy weather day we can always find a ray of hope here along the water’s edge.

Take care everyone and again stop in at anyone of my places here on the world-wide web, you are more than welcome.

HELLO EVERYONE

Just stopping in to say Hello.

How do you all keep up with your fellow bloggers?

Do you use the Reader on Google?  I have been 2 hours trying to catch up with many of you and sadly it has not gone well,  more like pulling teeth, OUCH.  Computer is so slow  don’t know if it is the weather or just and old computer or if it is GOOGLE I just wish I could make it FAST!  I miss you all.  I did have a RSS feed that sat up on the top of my page but when changing search engines or something I lost that.  So if you have the time to email me at myremmy@hotmail.com or Eunice356@gmail.com  I would love to hear from you.  PLEASE.

Now I spoke of WEATHER yes seems that is all I have done lately sorry but it is winter in New England and not sunny South Beach.
Here is a look out of living room window looking south towards the river.

100_5467

Yes pretty.

It is light and fluffy and my back is so happy for that.

Wildlife is too by the looks of the back yard.

JT and I will go fill the feeders and after 3 when they come for supper I will do my wild bird count.

I sold the van yesterday to a couple who wants to use it to go on trips like we used it for and now halfway to what I need to fix the transmission RIGHT THIS TIME hopefully.  Then to take rusted parts off and add a wooden floor in the back and pretty wood rails she will not look like my Mopar when I bought her but it will still push this dang snow so all we will need to shovel is porch and brick area and the ROOF.  I hope they will have many good times in the van life is short.

So if you can get back to me I would love to see more of you.

Peace and Love to you all.

Eunice

JT’s Adventures ……part one

JT Close-up

Well by now most of you know our JT (Jess-Tex) at least in photos.  She is our Border Collie and no we do not have a farm.

I have shared my life with fourteen dogs five of which were part of a litter that went on to new homes where they were adored family members.

This dog above was born at a friend’s home,  the male  her father was from Texas and they drove from Vermont to pick him up.  JT’s mother was a dog that was dropped off at their place in Vermont.  Gorgeous lighter Gray with white.  She was scared who knows the kind of life had she lead.

JT was like the runt with a not so perfect face marking and it was just her sister and her no one had chosen to be theirs.

Now I wanted no more dogs but here were the two prettiest faces begging to be loved.  I said I wanted both,  actually could not believe that came out of my mouth.  The daughter said she was taking the tri color one.  I was taking JT as long as they were both fixed,  I didn’t care.

The day we found her in the horse stall with her sister,  we had been camping with a three-year old great-niece  so we went home to NH but when I got to my house I called them and said I would be back up for the pup I had fallen in love with. Her husband was going to be in NH on a welding job so he brought the pup with him so we did not have to go all the way back to northern Vermont.

We bought a leash and collar as well as  bowl and water,  as it would be a long ride for a puppy and headed north.

We took the pickup truck with a bench seat so she could lay between us.   Funny as I look back six and a half years later  at that ride home.  She would lay her head on my leg then wander over to the passenger side for his leg.  She was trying to settle in on that big seat but wanted to be close to both of us,  her HERD.

We stopped often to walk her, and to let her have some water and then she was scooped up again and placed in the middle between us.    It is where she has always ridden till he bought this new truck with the big back seat.  All hersto be sure.

She had been born on Mother’s Day and  in October she took her first really long ride down to Georgia.  We went gold prospecting with a club he belonged to and she set about making many new friends that weekend.  It was really rainy and nasty,  creeks were swollen I was so glad this camping trip was in a cabin with a hot tub.

This pup has led a very interesting life to be sure.  She could have a blog of her own.

We no sooner got back from our trip to Georgia when we set in motion an epic cross-country trip  that would include sleeping out in the wild, in a tent for the month of December.  Not too worry we would be in Arizona and it is still warm right?

We bought an old RV and he made it road worthy and we were looking forward to an amazing journey together.    Then the gas prices soared so we scrapped the idea of taking the old beast back west where it had actually been made.  I looked for a van cheaper on gas and room for all we would need to bring with us.  I found a pretty cool looking Chevy van, a conversion van the kind with a bench seat that lays down and can be used as a bed.  We bought it from a group of men who used it  to go back and forth to New England Patriot football games.  Yes tailgaters.  It has a HUGE Patriots Loge on one whole window.  I never thought about the fact we were going to be in the Super Bowl and the game would be in Arizona!

What a trip that was from the start.  JT could feel the excitement.  I rented a place for our cat to go where,  she was to be treated like a Queen, for the money she better have been the center of attention.  He made a rack for the hitch, the fact he was a welder for 30 years came in handy.  On this rack we took the tool box off the pick-up and placed our clothes and tenting supplies as well has some dry goods like JT’s Food and dog bones.  We would be on BLM land and there would be no stores, no street lights, no phones.  JT would be the only one out of the three of us to do nothing but play as any pup will do.  They said rattle snakes would have taken cover as well as the other critters who live under ground,   I was hoping so.

So we loaded up and headed south, I had to say good-by and Merry Christmas to Mom on our way.  We opened our gifts and had a beautiful meal then loaded back into the van and headed out of New England.  Leaving what we thought  of winter behind us as well.

As we headed south through Massachusetts we heard a lot of horn blowing and people giving me the THUMBS UP  signs that was different for me having been in a big rig all those years and it was never a THUMB I got!  People were excited,  they saw the sign and our team was in the hunt for a ticket to the BIG GAME!  When we hit NJ the looks changed, funny how that works.

I stopped on the NJ Turnpike to top off of the gas tank when a big dark-colored Suburban pulls on the other side of the pump.  It had those really dark windows,  looking kind of sinister.  This is a place they pump for you, so as I am sitting and waiting I hear a horn beep then I see the black glass start to open  and there were four huge black men smiling at me I was kind of confused then one pointed to the SIGN on our window and said GO PATS!!!  They could have been players looking at the size of them!  It was like that the whole trip out. Just random strangers stopping us to congratulate our team on the playoffs  and wishing us well on our journey.  They all petted JT.  I swear more love was given to her that first year of her life.  No wonder she chooses humans over animals to play with.  She never new life as a dog.

more later on JT’s Adventures with us and her adoring fans

In the cold early winter months of 2012, the boys started work on the foundation and drainage for the new cooler. They also began welding parts for the new greenhouse. Bill and I took…

Yes Art of every kind can be found here.  In many rooms I did not ask if I could take photos,  the ones I did were happy to hear I would do a blog on the Western Avenue Studios in Lowell MA,  to get the word out.

The month of December they are open each weekend before Christmas.  Usually it is OPEN STUDIOS the first weekend of the month.

If you will be in Massachusetts and looking for something fun to do,  stop in this old mill building and get up close to those who are creating art right there in their spaces.  They want you to watch and also ask questions as well.

A friend  and I went as light snow fell and while the outside of this building gives no hints about what is inside, you now know the secret that is held just behind all those bricks.

You can get some great pieces for gifts, that are one of a kind.  Maybe you do Interior Design please keep this place in mind for some great deals.

Step into the elevator just inside the door go all the way to the 5th floor and work your way down.

This is truly the bare bones of what you will find inside.

Dad Bought Me Flowers

Dad Bought Me Flowers

Remember I told you about my best friend well here she  is with me on a very happy occasion,  Graduation Day.  I had been out of School since January and the last thing I wanted was to be apart of this ceremony.  It was June,  it was nice out and I had to go because Dad bought me this beautiful corsage.  Not sure if it was Dad or Mom taking this photo but I am sure they told me to SMILE!  I was always the kid in school looking out the window wishing I was outside.  I really did not like too many teachers in the 12 years I attended. Back in school in the 60’s and 70’s too much was happening OUT THERE to be STUCK IN THERE.
I did have a female teacher MS HILL in fourth grade now she was cool!  She was our science teacher and a Hippie I bet looking back on the times.  She had pretty long dark hair and I swear long grey streaks from the part down both sides of her head  maybe we made her prematurely grey.  I remember her outfits as do all the boys from my fourth grade class I am sure. Mini skirts were all the rage.  Our school had to add partitions to the fronts of the desks,  as they were not mini skirts they were micro mini’s!  It was the only class I saw the boys sit in the front two rows,  normally they raced to hide in back.  So now really why I loved my fourth grade Science class was because she loved science and it showed.  She taught us about the night-time sky and even had a field trip to a place in town where it was really dark.  We came with our families and all stretched out on our  blankets while MS Hill explained the stars and  what  each constellation was.   How many teachers have that much joy that they give up a night to spend laying on the grass with students.  I think of her often when I camp and spend so much time with my eyes looking up into the night sky.  Where I live there is no light pollution and I swear some nights there are billions of stars just over my head.  I wish I could find her to thank her for fourth grade as it was not till I went into ninth grade did I get that same feeling.  It was a new school and lots of new people I had never met.  There were so many classes to choose from and so many trades to try out.  We spent 6 or 8 weeks in each one to see if it was  match for us.  I wanted Auto Body bud sadly it was 1970 and girls were not allowed in trades full of men.  I wanted to sculpt cool outer shells for FAST CARS.  I had friends older that were always messing with their rides.  It is because of them and my Dad and all the time spent at the race track that I want to make them special.   I also loved Culinary Arts  we learned to chop, and dice as well as bake the most wonderful pastries   We learned how to waitress and even had our own restaurant with in the school to practice at for the real world.  I also took Drafting and Technical Illustrating oh and Electronics too!  It was Secretarial Sciences I ended up with as I loved Shorthand!  I was fast too. Then came tenth through twelfth grades and I could care less about going.  I had no choice Mom would remind me I would graduate if it was the last thing she would do!

So was it the lack of enthusiastic teachers I had or was there a problem with me?  Most teachers we had did not like children.  We had ones that would yell and scream and send you off to the office or ones who would go in the back room and drink we even had one flip out in class like he was on acid.  There was one cool teacher who taught us about the Mafia,  WHY?  Cool dude though he would go off with the young girls and they would all come back HIGH.  Yes these were different times in the 60’s and 70’s and I  for one was so happy to walk out in January of 1974 .  I just was not  happy having to attend graduation.  I know Mom and Dad were so proud of me but I always felt as if there was a whole world OUT THERE and I was MISSING IT!

I am so glad my best friend was there.   I kissed my parents good-bye and we set out to attend some Graduation Parties.

I have been out of school now for 38 years and would love to go to a   Art  School  or maybe just teach young girls to appreciate life, not to settle and to never stand for abuse, of any kind.

There is one thing I am sure of, if I taught they would listen.

‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

Blog of the Year Award banner 600

Do you know a blog that deserves an award?

Do you have special blogs that you love to read?

Which blogs do you bookmark and follow?

Would you like to give them an award this year?

Then the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award is for you!

Blog of the Year Award 1 star jpeg

The ‘rules’ for this award are simple:

1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award – http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/our-awards/blog-of-the-year-2012-award/   and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them

5 You can now also join our Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience

6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

6 stars image

Yes – that’s right – there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!

When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star!

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

Which means that you can check out your favourite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Badges

Here are the six badges for you to collect – you can either ‘swop’ your badge for the next one each time you are given the award – or even proudly display all six badges if you are lucky enough to be presented with the award six times!

Līgo Circle of Appreciation

The yearly Līgo celebration happens every summer solstice in Latvia.

At this time we adorn our heads with Līgos of flowers, oak leaves,
grasses and plants. We join circles around bonfires and celebrate life,
and our appreciation of each other.

Here’s our
Līgo Circle of Appreciation
among fellow bloggers.

For duration of 22 days, starting on 1st October 2012, we will be inviting
2 bloggers per day
to join the Līgo Circle of Appreciation.

PLEASE NOTE: This is an Appreciation, NOT an Award.

To fully participate in the Līgo Circle of Appreciation:
~
* Complete this sentence about blogging: ”A great blog is…
* Refer back to the blogger who invited you
* Invite 2 bloggers to join the Līgo Circle of Appreciation on a post

CAMP

Yes there was a lot of Rain

Some beautiful color as well

Good conversation

Tasty meals

Wonderful adult drinks

Gold

and yes with the weather we had

WE HAD DUCKS TOO!

Well you can’t always get sunshine

and warm temps but friends now

that is real warmth

Old Tree…… Older car

We hit a local stream in upstate Vermont,  with Gold on our

mind and a place to cool off the pup,  on a hot summer day.

We made our way to the river with friends and it was so

peaceful there, under the trees.  Their two sons taught our

Border Collie how to swim.   I know she should have known but

she is a Herder not a Lab.  In large fields full of Sheep, they do not

get many chance to play in water.

So with the children having fun, I took off with my camera.

I came upon a very old truck that someone had decided was much too much

trouble to have it pulled out of the woods.  Wonder why it was there.

This is the first shot I took from the river.

The floorboards did not stop this tree from coming up through and growing into

a real beauty, even with this mess of twisted metal all around her.

They made cars and trucks back then to last but something tells me  this tree will be

left standing when this old truck has just about rusted away.

I got back to the waterfall area where everyone was swimming and having fun, and I was

greeted by my happy, wet dog.  She had a blast while I was exploring.

I love our times out in the woods and water together .

Can you tell what year and model this thing is,  rusting out in the woods of Vermont?

Border Collies and Horses

Our friends live on top of a Mountain/Hill and they raise reining horses and Border Collies and of course their children as well.

They had a horrible thunder and lightning storm hit their area of VT and lost every animal that was in their  huge barn.  Horses, border collie pups, female horses just getting ready to foal, it was sickening to see the loss and the pain the family went through, being helpless to help the animals when the lightning hit.

We had JT from litter before the one lost and took her up to see her old family and to give them hugs.

Here are the two  horses that were outside and the dogs that were in the house, plus our JT ,  she loves when we go there.

Our little female has no idea how big this horse is and how quick she can move

She was scaring me.

Her brother is even crazier he is always up against these two female horses heels

Sad to think of all the horses that used to run here, now just two females, sisters.

Tex is the father of all the pups that were born here.

She is watching them

JT’s brother Tex’s son

Tex respects these giants, he has been chased before.

These horses mess with the dogs and their toy balls  as they really are all young and playful.

Thanks for stopping by.

As he searched for treasure in and around the boulders and gravel I found GOLD in a

friendship with Marie.

There may have been 3 vehicles parked in the shade along this stretch of route 112

but the woman in both made their way over to say hello and to say h to JT.

This part of the story will focus on Marie.  She said she was from MA in an area I used to go to once a

day, in my Big Rig.

I was siting in a chair throwing sticks or a frisbee to JT and told her about my back and she said she

knew my pain.

In fact today was the first time she had left the home with her husband for fun in 8 years.  She had been

hurt in an accident at work, boy could we relate.

We talked and talked and tears flowed from both of us.

We knew each others pain.

She saw me as strong . It was not till we spoke she knew I too, had been broken.

She has to go through exactly what I had gone through for 10 years.  Marie was  now

into her 8th  year of hell.   I told her to hang on it would soon be over.

It is what they do to hard workers who get hurt and go after them for damages.

They want us to give up and God knows I came close more than once.

She has to fight for disability.  I told her how.  I asked her to please just not to give up.

After hugging her and telling her it would be OK my mate saw us crying and said

“Do you know each other?” he was smiling as this happens so much he is used to it.

Marie told him I was so special and he smiled again and said he knew.  He also told her

this happens to me a lot now that  I have started to really LIVE my life again.  I am glad

it is with him.

So I let Marie know how to reach me.  I do not know if she will  but one thing I am sure of

is the fact she left that river’s edge a little stronger inside.  She needed to meet someone who had gone

through the pain and depression and had come out the other side.  Yes battered and bruised but no

longer busted and broken.   I refused the drugs finally and am finally Living and Lovin (the name of my

BLOG,lol)

For all of you fighting the fight please do fight for your life.  It is worth it.

Peace & Love

Wind

We had taken a trip to the shore to detect the beach, the waves were rough and the winds brisk.

We found a ring and change but once again, I captured on my Easy Share, a few interesting

photos on the way home.

These were  Sail Boats that had been knocked over by the winds.

As we came along this curvy section of shore road I see this young man suiting up to catch the AIR.  I pulled over and caught some action shots like I said I am ALWAYS READY!

I really wanted to just watch as I had never seen this done, close up in a marsh no less.

His Kite goes up in the wind with no problem.

Looks like he is also enjoying the day much differently from how we had but isn’t that what life is about, doing things you enjoy.

See what I mean about a brisk wind, man and I thought racing cars years ago was a RUSH

He and his buddy just jumped out of their cars, suited up, dragged their gear to the edge of the marsh and took off !  They must do this in a lot of places maybe safer than here .lol

We are along a very busy coastal route in NH.

CRAZY

Then the ride ends and thankfully on a cold and raw windy day.

In the middle of the ROADWAY!

I had my photos of this day safely on my SD Card and they were safe and would now pack up to maybe go for a beer and talk about the AIR they had Grabbed!

You just never know what you will find, during the course of a regular, plain old day .

Hope you enjoyed our day too

500 LIKES How does THAT happen

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine more than 10 followers and those would be friends I BEGGED to check it out!

Thanks so much for checking out and “Liking” my photos and words it means more than you will ever know.

Peace and LOVE
