The last equine slaugherhouse in the United States finally shut down, but American horses continue to go to slaughter across our southern and northern borders in record numbers.

From Alternet in the USA:

The Brutal and Secretive Trade of American Horses Killed For Their Meat

Few Americans are aware that our country’s horses are being exported and slaughtered abroad to supply other nations’ taste for a meat that’s shunned at home.

This article was published in partnership with GlobalPossibilities.org.

Herded down a concrete shute, the horses — black and brown and grey; fat, healthy, thin, lame — have little idea of the fate that awaits them. But one by one, the horses are separated from those behind, a metal trapdoor swinging down to confine each to a metal box. There’s blood and…

Two Beaches In One Day

100_3347

We arrived just after 8:00 AM

The surf was wild so we hung around to see if it would  start to head out enough to look for treasure

100_3384

She found a stick on the beach

HOW DOES SHE DO THAT?  I left the Frisbee in the truck as she has been hurting after playing at the beach lately so much for best laid plans lol but she was so happy to see the ocean I could not say NO.

Check out this wave action

100_3353

Is that a WAVE or a Wall heading towards us and where are the surfer dudes

100_3403

I was hoping to catch the sun out over the ocean but it never showed up

We climbed back in truck and took a ride two beaches further north

100_3451

Even without the sunshine we had an amazing day at the coast.

JT and I walked and walked slow and steady and my honey found a diamond ring with  a dark Blue stone all around the center stones very pretty and MY SIZE

100_3472

There are so many rules and regulations now that they are trying to spruce up this place

100_3422

Being the REBEL I am I broke a couple of these today

Come on though dead of winter not many souls out and NO DOGS OR DIGGING how can we treasure hunt with our cute little pup   well as long as these animals are allowed I will continue to break the rules

100_3494

and then there is him

100_3446

I clean up after JT

So if you see this

100_3488

Yes her mommy has taken her out to play at her favorite place

I have hundreds of photos of today so look for more of the Sea from me

Border Collies and Horses

Our friends live on top of a Mountain/Hill and they raise reining horses and Border Collies and of course their children as well.

They had a horrible thunder and lightning storm hit their area of VT and lost every animal that was in their  huge barn.  Horses, border collie pups, female horses just getting ready to foal, it was sickening to see the loss and the pain the family went through, being helpless to help the animals when the lightning hit.

We had JT from litter before the one lost and took her up to see her old family and to give them hugs.

Here are the two  horses that were outside and the dogs that were in the house, plus our JT ,  she loves when we go there.

Our little female has no idea how big this horse is and how quick she can move

She was scaring me.

Her brother is even crazier he is always up against these two female horses heels

Sad to think of all the horses that used to run here, now just two females, sisters.

Tex is the father of all the pups that were born here.

She is watching them

JT’s brother Tex’s son

Tex respects these giants, he has been chased before.

These horses mess with the dogs and their toy balls  as they really are all young and playful.

Thanks for stopping by.

Pretty Foal

This foal was born around the corner from me.

Watching it grow up is Priceless.

They wood love my yard so much better

all they have here is stumps and roots so sad
