Palette bracelet found from Bronze Age

Tuesday 8 April 2014, 22:03 (Update: 09-04-14, 08:05 AM)

An amateur archaeologist has found a palette bracelet from the late Bronze Age (1000-800 BC) in Limburg province. Palette bracelets from this time are rare. In the Netherlands there had never previously been found one, though some were in Belgium and France.

The man found the object during a years-long search on a field in the municipality of Echt-Susteren. In total he found 85 objects in the ground: bracelets, rings, beads and wire in a spiral shape. The Limburg Museum aquired them last year.

The museum assumes that the objects were buried as offerings or to keep them out of the hands of an enemy.

Restored

It is not certain whether the jewelry was used as a bracelet. It may also have been worn on an…

The findings — the first to describe the zircon — were published in the journal Nature Geoscience on Sunday.

“This is the oldest and the best dated of all the crystals that have been reported,” said John Valley, lead study author and professor in the Department of Geoscience at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

This crystal is a translucent red, Valley said, but glows blue when bombarded with electrons. At 400 micrometers long, its biggest dimension is just a tad larger than a house dust mite, or about four human hairs.

The crystal was found in an arid region north of Perth, Australia, in a low range of hills…

Sheperdswell metal detector Greg Sweetman finds valuable Anglo-Saxon artefacts next to A20 near Maidstone

A rare collection of Saxon artefacts has been found by a man from east Kent.
The Anglo-Saxon findings could be part of a grave date back to the sixth century and are said to be worth more than £40,000.
Two Saxon pins, part of a buckle or belt and seven brooches were found on land next to the A20 towards Maidstone.
Greg Sweetman, of Westcourt Lane, Shepherdswell, was the first person to find one of the brooches when metal detecting.
Mr Sweetman said that the finds were made at his first club dig with the Medway History Finders.
On finding a large square-ended Saxon brooch,  Mr Sweetman [Link to his pics] and the group decided to dig further and discovered the hoard of artefacts including hair pins and circular and square brooches. The brooches…

It Snowed!

No I did not take photos yet after shoveling for seven hours in 24 hour period I was too tired to snap a photo really that tired and I fell again.  I told him to return my boot cleats he had bought me as I usually am very steady sadly yesterday I was not!  I am OK bad bruise that will heal in time I have enough going on never mind see another doctor.

So today I will share some more shots from our day before the storm at the coast.  We went for a long walk to see the seals and snowy owls maybe an eagle or two.  Mostly seals and gulls as it was cold and windy and I knew I would need my strength for the storm clearing so we were only outside for two hours in it but JT had a great time with me as I did her then we watched her daddy look for treasure.  Oh I did change my photo on all my sites to the same photo except for my Friends of Living and Loving Facebook page so no longer will you see a shot of him bent over digging treasure but he is.
So here are a few shots of JT and maybe a landscape or two sorry if photos are too large and take forever to load I will work on that next time I upload. I need the largest format to sell and do not want 3, 4, or 5 of the same photos in my computer all in different sizes I am computer illiterate
so I do things the easiest way I can to find the photo I want to share with you and just click on insert photo.

Seeing him digging down on the beach thinking she would take me there silly girl she is fearless.

She had never paid attention to the seawall but on this cold day feeling no pain she jumped up on her own and wanted to walk it.  Seems as she gets older I may have to watch her more.

Image

A pretty place to sit  and watch  a sunset and a group of very loud seals
Image

back to the truck to wait for the sunset and go home and await the storm good thing they brought dinner for the gulls

Can not wait till I get back to the sea

Happy New Year To You All

I am going to try this challenge :  Zero to Hero 30-Day Blog Challenge  so for some of  you who already are  following I will bore you. since many of you have been with me since the start but for this challenge I have to introduce myself and blog to potential new followers.

My Blog  is called Living and Loving and my name when I set this up was NUTSFORTREASURE but now most of my followers know me as Eunice, from New Hampshire.  We are a very friendly bunch I only wish there was a way to meet up with everyone in one spot and have a beautiful visit and party.  It would surly be talked about for many years to come, I am sure of it.

When I started this journey within these pages,  now known as posts,  it was a long Memorial day weekend and I was needing to learn to Live and Love again,  hence the name.  See it was me getting ready to LIVE AGAIN and I am on my way thanks to so many others I have here to follow. They are so supportive even if they have only time to leave a Like. :)

I am supposed to tell you what my blog is about and all I can say is life.  Laughter, tears,  joy and sadness can all be found here interspersed with lots of photos  and re-blogs of others beautiful blogs and some pretty tasty recipes to try. I see me as a person who likes to share pretty things as the world has enough ugly stuff going on.

I share crafts I do as well as life with my beautiful Border Collie JT,  just the sweetest female dog who came into our lives at just the perfect time.

I will be changing some things on my blog  as this challenge  is supposed to do that.  So bear with me as I work it out.
My intention is to stay in touch with all who I adore here but I  love meeting new people too,  the hard part is keeping up with everyone so I will get a new computer by the end of April so I can continue to keep in touch.

Welcome to all new followers and thanks to those who have watched me grow, I am sure you know by now how much I love you all

Wish We Had Headed West

100_1868

Well after shoveling and snow blowing all day I am missing the west. The Southwest actually.  The desert of AZ.Today where we live in NH, we got our first snowstorm,  for a total of just over a foot of snow.  So I am really missing the sunny, dry conditions of the desert southwest.

I know I would miss my birds,  what would they do without me?  One year when I took off for the west I cut open a 50 lb. bag of sunflower seeds and spread them out under my truck,  someone or something had some good meals for the few weeks we were gone.  Summer trips we take there are plenty of bugs to eat but in the dead of winter and them being used to having their meals here,  it was the least I could do for them , what was $25.

Strong Surf

We got there the other day and when we saw the waves and this heavy stone thrown up on the beach it was more than he could stand.  It was too rough to wade into  so we went up the road two beach areas away where he found THE  Newest Piece of BLING :) and tons of money, coins but money is money isn’t it.

BIT OF BLING

Now you all know me as NUTSFORTREASURE Right?  Some Living and Lovin and others by Eunice

all really one in the same.

You know I have a pretty dog. You know by now I have a cheap camera I take with me EVERYWHERE.

Remember the ocean and wave shots, seagulls too but we go for TREASURE and to prove we find it I want to share a photo of one box of items he has dug while I toss the Frisbee to JT I used to dig while he swung his machine.  I have my own machine and love doing it on a hot summer night leaving the cat and dog home and going out together.  The perfect date in fact a night by the cool sea, music in the background  from a live band a new one each night.

So lets take a peek shall we (lousy photos,  too shiny and lights too bright but you will get the idea)

100_3554

So as you can see we have fun at our hobby

When we get enough we scrap them for cash and buy a newer car or take a trip out west to AZ for GOLD NUGGETS or we pay the bills up and live stress free.  We find the real good stuff in the brutal depths of winter good thing we are hearty New Englanders.  Would you go out in a blizzard to get to the sea to find these well if so you too are a treasure hunter and NUTSFORTREASURE!

I will try to update photos if the sun ever comes back out or if winds die down so I can do them in natural light there are some real beauties and we already bought 3 different vehicles in a year and a half Gold today is $1600+ an oz.

We have an 2007 Honda Truck  so it is 5 years old but she just has to get us down the road a piece so we can hunt and exercise

Have a Very Merry Christmas

Two Beaches In One Day

100_3347

We arrived just after 8:00 AM

The surf was wild so we hung around to see if it would  start to head out enough to look for treasure

100_3384

She found a stick on the beach

HOW DOES SHE DO THAT?  I left the Frisbee in the truck as she has been hurting after playing at the beach lately so much for best laid plans lol but she was so happy to see the ocean I could not say NO.

Check out this wave action

100_3353

Is that a WAVE or a Wall heading towards us and where are the surfer dudes

100_3403

I was hoping to catch the sun out over the ocean but it never showed up

We climbed back in truck and took a ride two beaches further north

100_3451

Even without the sunshine we had an amazing day at the coast.

JT and I walked and walked slow and steady and my honey found a diamond ring with  a dark Blue stone all around the center stones very pretty and MY SIZE

100_3472

There are so many rules and regulations now that they are trying to spruce up this place

100_3422

Being the REBEL I am I broke a couple of these today

Come on though dead of winter not many souls out and NO DOGS OR DIGGING how can we treasure hunt with our cute little pup   well as long as these animals are allowed I will continue to break the rules

100_3494

and then there is him

100_3446

I clean up after JT

So if you see this

100_3488

Yes her mommy has taken her out to play at her favorite place

I have hundreds of photos of today so look for more of the Sea from me

We Will Be Searching The Shore Again

100_5009

Well they say there will be another coastal storm brewing just off our shoreline,  so it is time to walk the edge, as the tide turns and heads out and look and see what it has left behind for us.  It will be sunny and in the 40’s what a perfect BEACH DAY   JT likes to walk me into the water so maybe I will even be barefoot.

Dozer On The Beach

101_0404

They are back at it.
Digging sand up out of an inlet and pushing it back up onto the main beach.
You would think we could find some really neat treasure here but we think they have a screen that it passes through so they can KEEP IT ALL!

Winters wrath will play out as always

What they place back up on top will surly get sucked back out to sea

I just wish they would remove their SCREENS

lol

It is Tuesday here in NH and we had snow and not it is pouring out.

Rain in December,  a week from Christmas,  yes this is a much warmer world than it was when I was young.

No degree needed here to see plainly that things have certainly changed in my world.

Stay safe out there where you are and hug your loved ones a little tighter and tell them you love them.

Even these cones

They were attached to a tree along a pathway leading to the Sea in Maine

It was winter

We took a long ride to get out for exercise

I took the camera and he the detector

No matter how many rings and things he finds

I still say I came home with the best treasures

Treasure Found Here

Draw Down

Draw Down

We went for a walk

He with the machine to hunt for lost items, his treasure.

Me with JT and the Easy Share.

JT and I walked one way he the other but I found something I knew would help him in his search.

A rope swing!

It is down on the left side of this river where when it is full it is close to the lake.

We stopped to tell him and he headed that way swinging his machine, picking up change

here and there till he got to the swing.  He walked out to where the water would have been

and picked up two rings!  He thanked me and said you are the Treasure Hunter .

No I  just see things random people don’t, maybe all those years driving a rig made this

blonde sit up and PAY ATTENTION .  He got a lot of cash even at a place that rips

you off, Cash for Gold as they say, so we  filled up the tank to be ready for the next

adventure.  This one was right out behind the house less than a gallon to and from

that is perfect when it happens.

Keep your eyes open for treasure you might other wise miss.

Reunited

A young man looses his high school ring at the beach.

My treasure hunter finds it.

I do some investigating to locate the owner.

We are able to see him put it back on his hand where it belongs!

Perfect ending.
