Cold Will Continue Till Monday

The cold is worsened by the winds that have been fierce here lately.
Every bird in the forest is here filling up on beef fat and Sunflower seeds and warm water I offer them in a heated birdbath.

I clean the house and take bird counts for Ebird do you do that? I list their numbers for a certain time period and some photos of my visiting species
some I can tell if they are males or females others I can’t.

I have been painting but not 5 a day anymore lol trying new things some are not what I wanted but I have fun anyway. This one I loved but then did not stop now to continue to play just for the sake of play. It is lighter but a bad photo.

I will be giving a free 2 hr class to students during February vacation I asked for the 9-15 year old range maybe I can turn them on to art and fun and keep them off the street 🙂

Before the Snow Flies

So much to do as fall is upon us with the winter season fast on it’s heels, weather wise anyways.

My flock of visiting Juncos have arrived which is a sure sign of snow season getting closer and closer and our northern neighbors have already received theirs.  Soon I will be able to hang up bird feeders without constant worry about the neighborhood bears wanting in on the action as well.  We now have a resident Bobcat not sure if it is male or female but I will keep the camera charged and ready for its appearance.

I have been teaching Watercolor classes I know can you believe it 🙂 I have so much fun doing the classes as I take all I struggled with being mostly self taught and let the watercolor take center stage as it should. No bells and whistles just letting it mix and mingle until it speaks to each students heart.  It is about fun and joy they can find enough to stress about as can you and I.

I had the first of my two craft fairs and it was very successful and the Boy Scout troop made some much needed cash.  I sold signed and numbered Giclee prints and lots of cards mom must be watching over me as we come up to the second anniversary of her death. The holidays are hard having no family left to speak of but I know I am not alone.

I promised some photos of what I have been doing to get my property ready to open it up for Art Shows and Classes as well as Plein Air gatherings.

Here are a few before and after shots as I just rented a machine to cut down all the brush so I can begin to put down paths of wood chips for visitors to follow down to the river banks and out into the forest though flowers will also be available with all my new additions this past spring.

So though it looks messy I can finally walk around without being covered with ticks from all that brush and I now have more land to fix and make suitable for growing old and others enjoying one thing I am excited about is friends have offered to build me a ranch home 2 Bedrooms brand new so I can knockdown my old home I no longer want to climb up on the roof to clean 🙂 I am blessed.

I will also add a new roof to the barn/studio and a new front glass door to let the sunshine stream in to the work tables. Not sure where to go to find the perfect door that will sit behind the sliding barn door but so happy for GOOGLE 🙂  I will paint it in the spring I was hoping my son would put an artistic scene on it but not sure where he is and what he is up to these days just hope he is also happy.

Flooding continues to be a problem here but I have folks working on that as I update my blog first make them aware then demand change 🙂 stay tuned!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my US friends and safe holidays to the rest of you from so far away.

Working Hard On My Dream

Still working hard on my land and what a warm summer it has been to do so.  During breaks I find time to wet my brush and get lost on my white piece of paper.

Happy Fourth of July

So much life happening at the moment it is hard to fit it all in.

I lost my cat on Monday and after 17 years together it is hard though I know she was so very sick 😦 I still wish she filled our space with her beauty xo

JT misses her as do we.

Phase one of my Artist retreat was slow with knee but it is in and mulched to protect is from this heatwave that is consuming so much of the United States I am not complaining mind you, as you all know I despise winter 🙂  I love a week and a half of high 90’s which is better than the same below 0 degrees F.

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you know I am also painting but with pain till my brace arrives I will vary my sitting and walking but soon hope to ride a bike no not another Harley but a pedal bike with a baskets so I can go off and sketch and paint in different places as well as my yard.  I think in Aug. I signed up for a week long Plein Air
right here close by with an amazing teacher. I hope I get the hang of it 🙂

I stepped out of my comfort zone a couple of weeks ago and painted live as a Featured Artist during a Farmers Market.  Met some very nice people and sold some cards.

Almost 200 In The Landcape

Boy am I getting some fresh air.

I bought bare root plants for my piece of property from the State of NH on Thursday yes it is only Monday, lol.  I used my tractor bucket to haul them fresh water and saved my knees many hours of back and forth time.  Then it rained a nice gentle rain all night I think.

These trees and bushes were ready to plant as many had their leaf buds all swollen I hope at least 1/2 take though my real hope is that each will thrive here on the seacoast of NH.  The wildlife will love this place even more and there will be so much greenery and blossoms for painting inspiration.

I bought a Song Bird package with 25 plants, 5 each. Such as Elderberry, Hazelnut and Cranberry.  The next package came with 10 Ninebark, then a bag full of 25 Dogwoods Red, Silky, Yellow, Gray as well as alternate leaf variety.  Another has my Deciduous  beauties Red and White Oak 5 each, Silver and Sugar Maples 5 each, Black Walnut and White Cedar too I also ordered 10 extra White Cedar for screening. I also got 10 Spiceberry Bushes.  Then a Christmas Tree package of 5 different varieties for another 25 trees yes I know I should have paced myself doing some in spring and fall but you have to get them when available as most years they sell out.  They ran out of White Birch which I wanted ten of for the rear of my piece of land I will hunt for babies in my yard 🙂

With the trees and bushes in place and my tractor and pile of compost and loom still large I will add shade loving perennials under my grown trees and sun lovers at the bases of others.  I will hit all the local garden club plant sales as I always do being a member of our towns club it is good to support others making this state as pretty as they can.

I have just one more drawing class tomorrow and then I can get back to my watercolors as I sit outside with my girls(cat and dog)and take in all the new scenes this place will have to get inspiration from.

Have a wonderful week!

My Instagram Is Back Up

Instagram is Follsommill and my Wix Blog is functional at Folsom Mill Studio man this creativity is hard work never mind Zazzle at Eunice356 and RedBubble etc.  I work hard to make pretty art worthy of a print or a simple card and with 5 sales this week I am so blessed.

We are covered with snow and ice I mean rock hard and slippery ice so I stay in and keep my bones safe as well as my dogs and  I paint then upload images onto products you have all seen, as you have followed me from the start.

Today out of the blue someone from Boston bought a B&W photos I took of sailboats moored here on the coast of New England.  I love that photo but adore Boston.

By now you all know we will once again play in the Super Bowl.  From what I hear 60 % of those who watch football or say they do hate our team and want to see us lose. I get it I do, same old same old right,  lol  NO!   Who wins games like our team we either make it look like the other team never showed up or they come back in the last quarter and make the others cry as they leave the field.

Our team is fired up they want it bad who knows maybe Philly will this year but my heart is with the GOAT. Yes I am a rabid fan.

Here is a few new pieces I have been playing with as I watch them boys come from behind.

Another Week In The Garden

DSC_1216
It has been hot and very humid but not like our poor west has been enduring.

I have lots of dragonflies here in the yard all posing for me and watching my every move.  Maybe I am blessed with so many beautiful things wild included, because I spend time watching out for them.  I pick up and move turtles from roadways I also throw on my hazards(4 way flashes) when a mother bird is walking her babies across a roadway yes I do it for humans too 🙂  even in my rig for endless mile after mile I tried to always look out for others.  Being aware is all I know are you that way do you really see?

Cooler temps. are on their way they say for 2 days with periods of rain so I will continue to work at the pile of dirt with my hoe and shovel and yes a wheelbarrow we need muscles bad.  I get so out of shape painting but making new friends in the art world now and have even said I will join in on a local “Wet Paint Out” this month and yesterday I taught 17 others at my local library a few things about Watercolor, all fun but I need to put my yard first 4 days a week.  My hope is to offer a place for visiting artists to come and teach.  We have a motel 10 miles away for the students and the instructor could stay here and I would provide meals and bed and bath.  It is early in the process but it is my desire to leave my place for the arts.  I will need an attorney and a business plan to set it in motion but it is the way I intend to leave this space if I can. So time to continue planting pretty spots for them to find inspiration while visiting.

Growing these in a pot. Cardinal Flowers grow along my river here now they will have new ones in a place where they will make an impact on my lower yard.

Do you make pretty things you want to sell?

I have set up a new blog where those who I follow and who follow me can post what they make.  Handcrafted items made by YOU.

Do a blog post and add it here and I will promote it in my stores and get the word out as well.

I know it has my bracelet on header but ideally once a week to have one of your photos run there would be fun too!

Email me at Eunice356@gmail and let me know if you make something you would like to have showcased and generate some sales on.  Once I add you as a contributor you can post or I can re-blog if you do a post on your blog.

My Mom Made the Prettiest Cakes

My Mom has decorated cakes since I was a baby.  In fact I never had a store bought one,  nor did my three brothers.  She only stopped making cakes when her hands crippled with arthritis and no longer could produce beautiful displays of her artwork., I think they were still beautiful but she was so hard on herself, really her cakes and frosting were so good and me being a kid, I hate to tell her it could have been messy and still yummy.

When she had orders for huge wedding cakes or say Big Bird for a Boston show, I always helped wash all the bowls, as each color on the cake had a separate one.  She made the best frosting.  I can not explain how good our cakes were at home.  When I was a Brownie she made a Brownie Cake and when I was a Rainbow Girl she made my doll cake in beautiful white gown just like the one she made me to attend weekly meetings in,  as well as a rainbow cape on her shoulders.

Mom was so talented in all she ever set her mind to teach herself.  I never wanted to follow in her footsteps.  I wanted to cut hair like my Dad’s Mom.  Guess I could never see myself as good as Mom was so I never pushed myself to try, ah now I know why I loved driving truck!

I will scan her cake photos someday and do a blog on her.  The photos that will be attached to this blog are ones I took her to see in Boston at the Boston Flower Show

Every year the Boston Flower show has a theme and then a display of talented people and what they make as related to flowers.  Hope you enjoy these photos once again I am using and Kodak Easy Share, in a crowded room.

I can hardly wait to share what my Mom did with a pastry bag and a rose tip!

She bought a book back in the 50’s and ended up in shows as these artists did.

Hope you enjoyed the photos sorry it went so long

She Wore Her Wings Proudly

I was attending a local fair , an agricultural fair .

They had rides set up for children to climb upon.

Many farm animals were being shown  by their handlers

with hopes of receiving a Blue Ribbon.

The smells of Fried Dough, and  Cotton Candy and Carmel Apples

were down each and every row.

There were tall men well men on stilts.

I was drawn to just one.

This pretty one with her WINGS

She walked  beside this artistic  little  dwelling.

I loved the color and everything going on  with it but

when she turned and I saw her wings I knew I needed

to somehow catch up and snap two photos.

You probably had to be there to understand but this was so not

what you would normally see walking about at a fair,  where they sheared sheep and milked cows.

Do you like fairs?  What’s your favorite part?  Got a photo of it?  SHARE!    lol

It was being hauled by a Yellow Turtle.
