Wishing You All Safe and Very Merry Christmas

Our snow has just about disappeared here in southeastern New Hampshire but there is word out tonight some flakes will be in the air this week ahead.

Our garden club sold over $1,000 worth of Poinsettias and Wreaths and a few Kissing Balls as well. The last order will go to a church here in town on Thursday so they can get their alter ready for the Twelve Days of Christmas.  We will make between $300/$400 for our effort and make the town that much prettier this spring.

My girl(JT) has been put on meds to help with her pain I also and taking her for gentle walks to help with our ongoing weight loss plan. 🙂

Trying to get into the holiday spirit by getting out and doing things with others in town and making an effort to get dressed and show up no matter what so many gone from the family table this year as many of you it is not easy.

I have been adding cards to a local shop here in town where I teach too and making some art to tuck into Christmas Cards for family and friends.

Wild color fills this 11 x 14 🙂

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.

Before the Snow Flies

So much to do as fall is upon us with the winter season fast on it’s heels, weather wise anyways.

My flock of visiting Juncos have arrived which is a sure sign of snow season getting closer and closer and our northern neighbors have already received theirs.  Soon I will be able to hang up bird feeders without constant worry about the neighborhood bears wanting in on the action as well.  We now have a resident Bobcat not sure if it is male or female but I will keep the camera charged and ready for its appearance.

I have been teaching Watercolor classes I know can you believe it 🙂 I have so much fun doing the classes as I take all I struggled with being mostly self taught and let the watercolor take center stage as it should. No bells and whistles just letting it mix and mingle until it speaks to each students heart.  It is about fun and joy they can find enough to stress about as can you and I.

I had the first of my two craft fairs and it was very successful and the Boy Scout troop made some much needed cash.  I sold signed and numbered Giclee prints and lots of cards mom must be watching over me as we come up to the second anniversary of her death. The holidays are hard having no family left to speak of but I know I am not alone.

I promised some photos of what I have been doing to get my property ready to open it up for Art Shows and Classes as well as Plein Air gatherings.

Here are a few before and after shots as I just rented a machine to cut down all the brush so I can begin to put down paths of wood chips for visitors to follow down to the river banks and out into the forest though flowers will also be available with all my new additions this past spring.

So though it looks messy I can finally walk around without being covered with ticks from all that brush and I now have more land to fix and make suitable for growing old and others enjoying one thing I am excited about is friends have offered to build me a ranch home 2 Bedrooms brand new so I can knockdown my old home I no longer want to climb up on the roof to clean 🙂 I am blessed.

I will also add a new roof to the barn/studio and a new front glass door to let the sunshine stream in to the work tables. Not sure where to go to find the perfect door that will sit behind the sliding barn door but so happy for GOOGLE 🙂  I will paint it in the spring I was hoping my son would put an artistic scene on it but not sure where he is and what he is up to these days just hope he is also happy.

Flooding continues to be a problem here but I have folks working on that as I update my blog first make them aware then demand change 🙂 stay tuned!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my US friends and safe holidays to the rest of you from so far away.

Making Giclee

I have decided since the theft the best way to sell my watercolors for now is as a signed and numbered Giclee print.  I will make some of my original pieces available in runs of just 250.

So my shop on Etsy is open with the first 5 being offered.  FolsomMillStudio

Now that the printing process has been completed by a local couple and I can offer exact images for my art I feel so much better. I am offering them for $35 each.

I am working each day on my space here mowing, weeding, planting and dreaming of what is to come.  My knee pain is just about gone with this new diet so slow and steady I will work to get strong again.

You poor people with fires pushing you out we seem to be getting your rain and trust me we do not need it.  Some of our local fire fighters have been sent to help so yes we all know about you being in harms way.  We are so sorry please stay safe.

Working Hard On My Dream

Still working hard on my land and what a warm summer it has been to do so.  During breaks I find time to wet my brush and get lost on my white piece of paper.

Doodlewash Have Your Heard Of It?

I was approached by Charlie O’Shields from Doodlewash and asked if I would like to be Featured on his blog and website. I told him I was new to this and not sure I was ready as his site is gorgeous and has professional artists on there I look up to .  He assured me it was time and asked me to send him some photos and words.  Looking back at the should have, could have, would have, I wish I had shot a few works in progress to show my style lol who knew I had one.

I forgot I am not supposed to paint boring scenes with everything the same height I will rectify that in the future.  🙂

Pats won again I am a happy lady.

It is now Christmas Eve here in NH and places are closing up early for workers to have time with their own families which is nice to see.  Besides sending out cards I did nothing for this holiday since mom died last Thanksgiving I really just spend the holidays here at home with boyfriend and the dog and cat.  I like having no extra stress as it is a sad time already.  I did keep the wild birds fed during our ice storm and today before the snow begins to fall.  They say we will have 4 to 8 inches I hope for 0  🙂

Less than 90 days left till spring I will keep reminding myself.

I will spend time cleaning out old paperwork, donating clothes/coats and giving away many items I no longer have the need for as it is a good time to purge and I have a whole week to make a dent it in before the New Year.

I am trying to decide if I should build a new home(without stairs) or redo this home so it flows better and a large storage room can replace where the bathroom now sits 4 stairs down. My knee is good but I know I will need replacements down the road so why not plan now.  Also have to lose weight and remain focused so I can do more as I get older.

I will continue to paint and take photos and in January I also begin to teach watercolor basics.  I can not wait to share the magic.

Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas can not wait to hear what you all did.

Still Hard at Play

cards1
Fluidity is what I am going for in this my 3rd year of painting.  Lay it down on a wet piece of paper and walk away.  One on left is on it’s way to being a card for my fall displays and the one to its right I am not sure yet.

Hope you are all doing something you love if even just one hour a day.  Happy September.

To those in TX and now all in the path of these hurricanes lining up one after another know we are praying for all of you.

Wetting A Canvas For A little Fun

I picked up a canvas made for Watercolor and it sat in my studio for a couple of months.  I was worried I would make a mess, still being new to painting and with Watercolor.  Well I picked up some Violet from my palette and made a very loose mix then I wet the canvas as if it were just a piece of #140 paper, I usually paint on.  Well it was so wet and I feared I had ruined it but I tilted it and let it do it’s thing.

I lifted some off where I wanted the clouds to be and then mixed up a little Indigo.  Being too wet it mixed and mingled. It seemed to be on a path taking over what ever it was that I had wanted and then it evolved into this landscape.  lol  I never use a photo just let it happen and this time I loved it!  Now I must buy another for a wild colorful abstract!

Learning How To Create

With just over a year in, learning all I can on my own about Watercolor Painting, I have to say I wish I had known about this artform so long ago.

After laying down some plain water on my cold pressed paper I add splashes of straight or watered down pigment and watch magically as things begin to happen.  Clouds, mountains and even trees appear in my landscapes.  Now to learn how to paint figures and animals to really make them pop!

Please let me know what you think when you see new pieces added to my website or Facebook page.  With all those years on the road there was never anytime for me to visit Art Galleries.
