I am now taking orders for the jewelry I make.
I will be doing custom pieces in the size or colors of your choice.
I will make necklaces and bracelets like the one below
which is call KUMIHIMO. I use glass beads.
A little history about this type of beaded braid.
Kumihimo cord was first created by a form of finger-loop braiding. Later tools such as the marudai and the takadai were employed to make more complex braids in shorter time. The most prominent historical use of the cords was by samurai as both a functional and decorative way to lace their lamellar armour and their horses’ armor (barding). Kumihimo cords are now used as ties on haori jackets and obijimes, which are used for tying on an obi (kimono sash).
I will also be offering Fused Glass Pieces for not only the women but for the men in their lives.
I will also Start another BLOG to post this jewelry and for others to link to who also make pretty things they want top sell. Let’s support each other.
Inspiration comes in many forms but when it happens to me I either grab a camera or my Blue Tray upon which I do my Beading.
I head into the spare bedroom, though there is no bed and open up the many drawers and containers I have full of beads. As I poke around I zero in on the colors I have available. I used to just have colors of the Sea. I have been beading for two years now and have some of each color it seems.
So with tray in one hand I begin to add beads, needles, thread and findings to complete a project. Who knows if I will sit and work it to the end or put it aside half-finished for a later day.
Even when gathering the supplies to make something pretty and new, I slip into THE ZONE. You have to or the creative juices can stop flowing, even before you begin.
Now with all I think I will need, piled high upon my blue tray, I sit at the table over looking the yard and river with my dog and cat close by. I add the string to my needle, usually Fireline so the piece will last for years and then I use the needle to pick up one tiny seed bead at a time. I like using 15’s and 11’s the best. They are very tiny. I have to focus or prick myself.
As I sit and pick up each one and add them into my design it starts to come together nicely and as I do the world seems to stop. Yes I enter THE ZONE rather quickly when I place that Blue Beading Tray in front of me.
Do you BEAD?
Have a great day getting lost in THE ZONE!

Yes Art of every kind can be found here. In many rooms I did not ask if I could take photos, the ones I did were happy to hear I would do a blog on the Western Avenue Studios in Lowell MA, to get the word out.
The month of December they are open each weekend before Christmas. Usually it is OPEN STUDIOS the first weekend of the month.
If you will be in Massachusetts and looking for something fun to do, stop in this old mill building and get up close to those who are creating art right there in their spaces. They want you to watch and also ask questions as well.
A friend and I went as light snow fell and while the outside of this building gives no hints about what is inside, you now know the secret that is held just behind all those bricks.
You can get some great pieces for gifts, that are one of a kind. Maybe you do Interior Design please keep this place in mind for some great deals.
Step into the elevator just inside the door go all the way to the 5th floor and work your way down.
This is truly the bare bones of what you will find inside.
