God Is Great and so are you

Mom’s surgery is over today was a day to begin recovery and it was horrible to watch her suffer in horrible pain and me being me I demanded they start caring for my mom as much as I cared for my dog.  They got the message and started doing all they could to stop all the break through pain that was gut wrenching to watch as a helpless daughter.  So yes big mouths are good 🙂  When my brother went after work tonight he said she was in a better place and enjoying a North End Cannoli yes from the North End of Boston.  I can sleep better tonight knowing the insanity will soon be over and she will be sent home where I will do my best 12 to 13 hours a day to see to her needs.  Honor thy Mother and Father.

Some good news I got on my way to Boston the two paintings I did and worried about sharing in an art show well the man said the one titled Maine sold today 🙂 show goes till the AUG.1,  hope I sell both and they love them hung in their home or office 🙂  The meet and greet is tomorrow night.

Depending on how life goes I will try to keep up here but by phone it just doesn’t work well for me.

Thanks again everyone

HUGS and Peace

DP Challenge Nice Is as Nice Does/ Helping Hand

Daily Prompt: Nice Is as Nice Does

Tell us about the nicest thing you’ve ever done.

Photographers, artists, poets: show us KINDNESS.
http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2014/01/23/daily-prompt-kindness-2/

________
I try to always be kind so it took a few minutes to come up with something to share with you on this  DP Challenge.  I was raised to do for others in need so I will share with you, a day in my life as a trucker.  Truckers are good for the most part but like anything we can get a bad rap from the few who are not.

It was a rainy day as I traveled from Roxbury Massachusetts back and forth up and down the SE Expressway.  I was hauling a huge 100 yard, live floor, trash trailer. I would leave the transfer station grossing out at 100,000(pounds) GVW .  I would then travel down to a trash to energy plant on the upper cape and race back for another load.  The day goes a little slower when it is messy out, either we slow down or there is back up in traffic due to ones who didn’t and caused crashes.   I was coming back from my second  trip when up ahead of me people where hitting their brakes and trying to avoid an elderly man who was attempting to change his tire.  I moved over to the right land then up behind him with my semi.  I put the 4 ways on(hazard lights)and jumped out of my cab, in the pouring rain.  I told the man I would take care of it and for him to get back inside of his full size sedan,  to say he was shocked to see me a young, curvy blonde female offering to take care of him would be an understatement.  I went to his trunk and got out the spare and thankfully it was aired up and the jack.  I got on the ground, jacked up his car and loosened the lug nuts and took off flat tire.  I then put the full size spare on and placed the flat and tools back into his trunk, all within 5 to 10 minuets.  It was a torrential downpour type of rain but being the kind of hauler I was I spent most of my sixteen hours a day outside and up on top of my trailer so I knew I would not melt. I went up to the drivers door all the while Boston traffic whipping by, which is why I did not what him doing it at 70+ years old, and knocked on his window and said he was all set and I would tell him when to safely pull out.  He was so thankful he even tried to give me money, guess some people are not used to people just being kind and wanting nothing in return.  I thanked him for his offer but reminded him that it was my own truck and that my Dad would kill me if I took money for doing the right thing.  He called me an angel and I told him to have a wonderful day and not to forget to fix or get a new spare and when it was safe to pull into that Boston highway, off he went.  Yes I was drenched but  my truck was running with heat on I could dry off a little on the way back for load 3 and usually there was a wait as well.  See it is never about me it was about making sure he was not hit in traffic,  that I could not live with besides not many will chance hitting a trailer like I pull, which was solid steel, so I felt safe on the ground in front of my rig.  I felt good as I pulled away from the edge of the roadway and that is how I always feel when I do the right thing, like giving a helping hand.

Even the beautiful Forsythia that lines this property had visitors!  I love this beautiful, very tiny golden bug.   I do love Macro for what shows up that I never saw .

Miss you all

We had our Garden Club plant sale yesterday wish it had been a sell out.

Painted almost the whole front side of our house today,  ouch too much.

It has  been so gorgeous here like a present for what we had to deal with this past winter.

I hope you are seeing better weather.  We go to Boston tomorrow and for the first time I am uneasy about traveling to the city I adore.  Mom has doctor appointment at one of the hospitals the wounded were taken to.

I am hoping to write a few stories and share some more photos I already have the photos in camera now to download them onto laptop and WRITE

Miss you all

Could you say a little prayer for New England

What a horrible night.
Beautiful towns covered by swat teams, one of the bombers is now dead but so is a MIT school officer.

Long night of terror for many I pray it ends TODAY

Two angry men bombs, guns, grenades WHY

Makes you wonder why so many flee from their homelands and flock here. It is not the America I knew as a little girl and it is very sad.

Praying for the people just 50 miles from me and America as well.

All trains, buses shut down. Businesses now closed people told to stay in their basements pray for us that this will end without another life being taken.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<

UPDATE the WHOLE CITY OF BOSTON IS SHUT DOWN!

No Taxis, autos, trucks everyone to stay in their homes and wait till he is caught.

He ran over his own brother when fleeing the shootout so no one is safe

This is CRAZY

Say prayers please one cop dead one injured is on in early 30’s and with a small infant 😦  so sad

Woman with infant now in police car being questioned girlfriend or sister.

Suspect bloody and in custody AMEN

PLEASE PRAY FOR THOSE UP HERE IN BOSTON

So very sad.

Such a beautiful day we had,  till this afternoon.

Sun was shining,  people from all over the world were running the Boston Marathon and the 26 miles of roadways were lined with happy cheering people.

Two bombs went off

A little eight year old has passed away before their life even began.

Tears shed by the world at large or those with hearts anyway.

The last mile was in memory for the children who were murdered in CT.

The poor first responders that were at the finish line  to help with fatigue after they had topped Heartbreak Hill and to give them a place to rest and fluids could not be ready for what took place here today.

What is wrong with the world today?

There are now armored personal carriers at our local hospital where I take Mom every 3 months for a check up I did a post on that pretty garden down the street from the same hospital  this is just simply another sad day in the history of the world and today was Boston’s turn.

Doctors are pulling ball bearings from people’s bodies.

A dirty bomb is used daily in many countries but this is Boston and it was gorgeous and just a perfect day for the runners.

In tears so sad saying prayers and sending out mad love to all those heroes that stopped the bleeding for so many to get them to help.

For those of you who live in countries where this has become so normal I am so sorry it is not what living is supposed to be like.

Please hug and love each other.

Lots of Meta going out to all

“Snowzilla” takes on Boston snow

KFOR.com

BOSTON — We doubt anything like this will be needed in Oklahoma, but the city of Boston announced the creation of a “snow removal strike team” Monday. Several city agencies are now working together, their goal: to get the snow, ice and debris left after the weekend’s devastating blizzard off the streets.

A parade of bulldozers, plows and salt trucks rolled out of the city’s public works headquarters as officials announced the start of a massive snow removal effort.

“It’s an arduous process and I don’t think we can get it all done in one shot, but we’re going to do our damn best to get as much done as possible,” said Joanne Massaro, Boston Public Works commissioner.

As of Monday afternoon, Boston crews plowed 810 miles of roads since the storm dumped 25 inches of snow in 24 hours. And city tow trucks yanked about 430 cars off the…

We Headed Out For A Free Show

We woke early to get ready to attend.  We took the truck and dropped of the dog with my Mom.  She was very sad and didn’t really want to see us go.  I knew she would be safe for a few hours with Mom and it was time for me to have some fun after the last week I had just been through. I had it planned down to the minute as we would drive 22 miles from Mom’s then catch one bus then catch yet another and a short walk would put us front and center of 1325 Commonwealth Avenue a place the band had called home and where they actually wrote a few hits.  I am talking about old friends from long ago you know them as Aerosmith.  So let mew show you some photos of a beautiful day we spent with them at a free concert they set up for us their FANS.

Waiting for the first bus

Flatbed Trailers full of Speakers, for the show, parked along the road ready to go.  They never broke them down!

They came in like our sports stars do in Boston, well they are ROCK STARS!
By DUCK BOATS.
They brought friends and family too.

They were going back home to where they had started this journey.

I have to tell you about some friends.  MR. Kraft and his Son who are owners of our NFL Football Team The New England Patriots!

They brought Footballs for each of the band members.  Game Balls.

Best of all they brought our Quarterback, I am sure you have heard of him lol Tom Brady.  The band had made a new track for them to use while on the field when they play.

When we arrived there may have been a thousand of us early birds.

We were up pretty close to the entrance of their old place.

One rig was for them to perform from the other two of these trailers loaded with speakers one for each side of this section of street.  They said there could be 100,000

of us fans show up.  I think they said it was more like 30,000 I can’t say as we were shoulder to shoulder dancing and screaming for MORE!

It was a cool day as you can see but Steven Tyler took of his coat and asked us to do the same.  I had dressed in layers so my light jacket was already tied around my waist but

boyfriend said we were nuts and he chose to stay bundled up.

TV and Radio stations were everywhere

Police too, but it was a party they really were not needed. They were loving the show as well,  even helicopters hovered above to take it all in.

There is always one in the crowd who never thinks of who they may be blocking so before they took her down they passed her their cameras

Steven Tyler turns to include all the college student who have gathered along the ground in front of their old place on Comm Ave

They shot us with cannons full of confetti they part was over it was time to send them back on tour as the following day TODAY their new album dropped

A sea of rockers as you can see and this doesn’t really show much at all as they had started to disperse from that end.

The Roadies break it down, sure wish they had had room for a piano we really wanted to hear DREAM ON maybe next time

A very orderly crowd

As you can see we were very well protected

Never been so glad to see our truck sitting and waiting for us safe and sound.  Time to get in and go see Mom and our little pup JT

Wish you could have joined us for the show.

Catch them when they come to your town they will have you rocking all night long!

Peace

My Mom Made the Prettiest Cakes

My Mom has decorated cakes since I was a baby.  In fact I never had a store bought one,  nor did my three brothers.  She only stopped making cakes when her hands crippled with arthritis and no longer could produce beautiful displays of her artwork., I think they were still beautiful but she was so hard on herself, really her cakes and frosting were so good and me being a kid, I hate to tell her it could have been messy and still yummy.

When she had orders for huge wedding cakes or say Big Bird for a Boston show, I always helped wash all the bowls, as each color on the cake had a separate one.  She made the best frosting.  I can not explain how good our cakes were at home.  When I was a Brownie she made a Brownie Cake and when I was a Rainbow Girl she made my doll cake in beautiful white gown just like the one she made me to attend weekly meetings in,  as well as a rainbow cape on her shoulders.

Mom was so talented in all she ever set her mind to teach herself.  I never wanted to follow in her footsteps.  I wanted to cut hair like my Dad’s Mom.  Guess I could never see myself as good as Mom was so I never pushed myself to try, ah now I know why I loved driving truck!

I will scan her cake photos someday and do a blog on her.  The photos that will be attached to this blog are ones I took her to see in Boston at the Boston Flower Show

Every year the Boston Flower show has a theme and then a display of talented people and what they make as related to flowers.  Hope you enjoy these photos once again I am using and Kodak Easy Share, in a crowded room.

I can hardly wait to share what my Mom did with a pastry bag and a rose tip!

She bought a book back in the 50’s and ended up in shows as these artists did.

Hope you enjoyed the photos sorry it went so long

2012 Boston Flower Show

The Boston Flower Show

I have been attending this show with my Mother since I was very young and this year a friend of mine joined us for the day.

The photos were taken on Friday of the show.
I miss the days when they had so many flowers, when they were set-up in the Bayside.  Now it seems like a small area for display and then rooms for the flower arranging segment of the show.  This year there were so many vendors it made me wish for the “old days”

Loved this color!

Pretty Flowering display

This is one of the displays of a back yard all set up.

LOVED these!  They were displayed in on a decking floor, for seating .

Loved the idea of stepping stones made from slices of a downed tree. All organic and after Irene we can all find  something to put in our yards.

Last year what caught my eyes were HUGE Aluminum Palm Trees but this year it was this kind of pottery, so pretty when placed  in your yard, this would be so pretty with water flowing out and down the sides.

I would love to have this stone sculpture in my garden area, so beautiful.

Wonder how much something like this would cost?  My friend may place it on her Honey Do List, lol

Flowers were so beautiful to see, reminds me of what is to come in my own yard this year.

The Hats!
Dog Topiary
An Antler lol
Hard to pick a favorite!
This on below reminded of Whopee
it was Dread Locks!
Another room had a few shoes
so pretty
Now some more talented
designers
So 45+ years I have been attending this show and each year I find something I want in my own place.
If you have never gone try to make it one year, I think you will love the COLOR of Spring even if you go when there is still SNOW on the ground.
