Beading A Bracelet For A Dear Friend

Well it is a Big Football day here in America.  My team is not in it so I will listen to the music watch the half time show and raise my eyes to catch the commercials they paid so much for.  Eat and drink,  no not so much,  not like the old days when it was a party to throw that kept me busy.  Today I am beading.  Feet up working with Size 8 beads in the colors Purple as it is my friends favorite color hope she likes how it will look on her wrist.  I am worried about her.  She is going to be 68 on the day my son was born and she has been having lots lot heart issues.  So I hope my small token of friendship brings a smile to her face.  She is ten years older than me and I have known her since the 90’s when a man from my neighborhood started dating her out in OH.  So she moved here and we had some fun times together.  She now lives in GA and since I do not see me getting there anytime soon this gift will be a surprise of sorts. See when we lived close to each other we would do things together on our birthdays, without men just us girls.  Mine is two weeks after hers so it was a never ending party.  We would go out for Prime Rib dinner and dance the night away. So thinking of her and my love of Kumihimo I am almost done.  Want to see?

Do you think these colors look good together?

I really hope she feels the love as she wears it.  I don’t have a lot of money but beads I have and a skillset to make something handmade and they say those are truly the most thoughtful gifts right?

Have a wonderful day!

I have set up a new blog where those who I follow and who follow me can post what they make.  Handcrafted items made by YOU.

Do a blog post and add it here and I will promote it in my stores and get the word out as well.

I know it has my bracelet on header but ideally once a week to have one of your photos run there would be fun too!

Email me at Eunice356@gmail and let me know if you make something you would like to have showcased and generate some sales on.  Once I add you as a contributor you can post or I can re-blog if you do a post on your blog.

http://handcraftedbyus.wordpress.com/

I am now taking orders for the jewelry I make.
I will be doing custom pieces in the size or colors of your choice.
I will make necklaces and bracelets  like the one below

which is call KUMIHIMO.  I use glass beads.

KUMIHIMO Bracelet

KUMIHIMO Bracelet

A little history about this type of beaded braid.

Kumihimo cord was first created by a form of finger-loop braiding. Later tools such as the marudai and the takadai were employed to make more complex braids in shorter time. The most prominent historical use of the cords was by samurai as both a functional and decorative way to lace their lamellar armour and their horses’ armor (barding). Kumihimo cords are now used as ties on haori jackets and obijimes, which are used for tying on an obi (kimono sash).

I will also be offering Fused Glass Pieces for not only the women but for the men in their lives.

I will also Start another BLOG to post this jewelry and for others to link to who also make pretty things they want top sell.  Let’s support each other.

Making Gifts

I have been really busy and then again doing nothing at all.  You all have such busy and active lives that I love reading about.  Yes I have stories from my old life and an occasional fun outing but as this time rolls around I remind myself I am here and to embrace this beautiful life I am given.  Don’t the holidays remind us to do that THINK!  So man loved ones gone and I miss them as you do so this year I am trying to get as healthy as can be I know I know what I think it is my third year in this journey but I am getting there slow and steady they say.

So I have been selling my photography and am thrilled others like it enough to want to own it or gift it.  Why don’t I do that?  I never give my pieces to loved ones and friends because I do not want them to feel obligated in hanging it if it is not to their taste. So why am I making gifts? I am whipping up trinkets because I am poor and I know how too now to make them into show stoppers they can not wait to place on their wrist or hang from an ear lobe or even their neck!  I really am bad at figuring peoples tastes out.  I could spend 8 hours on a woven piece full of tiny seed beads and they will walk into a store and buy a cheap string of beads on an elastic and be happy.  I had just about given up on trying to create beautiful pieces when I saw this package of beads and one thing lead to another and before you know it I had a group that just needs the finishing touches placed on then they become JEWELRY not sure they will be loved and enjoyed but all I care about right now is my passion has surfaced and I am running with it!

Let me show you now remember they are not done they are works of ART in process. lol

 Now I will have to decide on findings to finish them with Silver, Gold Copper or even Gunmetal choices and more choices I will take the pieces into a local shop and see what they have or I will take the cash I made selling photography and buy online bags of 10 to 100 pieces but I am more of a one of a kind girl so the hard part no the fun part is done and they can sit till I know what I want to do.

Have a great week everyone and thanks for sticking with me.  I can bead and shoot pretty scenes all winter but I can blog about them too!

PEACE and LOVE to you all.

handmade with love

Ripe Red Berries

Is your christmas tree in need of a little handmade love? Well, if so, here are three simple (and inexpensive) ideas to do with your kids or for yourself…why not bring out the child out in you this holiday season?

1.Bake-art dough

Bake art dough is not edible, but it’s a super fun project for kids and grown-ups alike. You can use cookie cut-outs or design your own. Bake, cool and decorate. Use non toxic paint, markers, glitter, tissue paper, ribbon…whatever your fancy. We kept things simple – paint, glue and sparkles, perfect for 2 year old (or 40 year old) fun!

All you need is;

2 cups unsifted all purpose flour

1/2 cup salt

3/4 cup water

Decorations/art supplies

Ribbon or metal hook to hang with…

How to;

Blend flour and salt, add water and stir. When water is mixed in, work dough into ball. Knead dough for about…
