RE-BLOGGED STORIES FROM OTHERS

The Making of a Beaded Rooster..

Adventures in Bead Embroidery

During the past couple of weeks, I have been busy working on a commissioned bead-painting. This one will feature quite a different subject than I usually bead ‚Äď a Silver-Laced Wyandotte Rooster!

I started with a sketch which I used to created a template. Using the template, I cut out several layers of felt in different shapes. These layers will help create the relief aspect of my beadwork. Then, I began stitching mostly Japanese size 15 seed beads to my felt foundation (as well as a few larger beads). I used a few different grays and white, as well as red &  yellow.

Once I reached the bird’s wing, I decided to try doing bead embroidery with long Magatamas! These are the large oblong shaped white beads in the photo above. I got the crazy idea to use these as feathers!

Happy New Year To You All

I am going to try this challenge :  Zero to Hero 30-Day Blog Challenge  so for some of  you who already are  following I will bore you. since many of you have been with me since the start but for this challenge I have to introduce myself and blog to potential new followers.

My Blog  is called Living and Loving and my name when I set this up was NUTSFORTREASURE but now most of my followers know me as Eunice, from New Hampshire.  We are a very friendly bunch I only wish there was a way to meet up with everyone in one spot and have a beautiful visit and party.  It would surly be talked about for many years to come, I am sure of it.

When I started this journey within these pages,¬† now known as posts,¬† it was a long Memorial day weekend and I was needing to learn to Live and Love again,¬† hence the name.¬† See it was me getting ready to LIVE AGAIN and I am on my way thanks to so many others I have here to follow. They are so supportive even if they have only time to leave a Like. ūüôā

I am supposed to tell you what my blog is about and all I can say is life.  Laughter, tears,  joy and sadness can all be found here interspersed with lots of photos  and re-blogs of others beautiful blogs and some pretty tasty recipes to try. I see me as a person who likes to share pretty things as the world has enough ugly stuff going on.

I share crafts I do as well as life with my beautiful Border Collie JT,  just the sweetest female dog who came into our lives at just the perfect time.

I will be changing some things on my blog  as this challenge  is supposed to do that.  So bear with me as I work it out.
My intention is to stay in touch with all who I adore here but I  love meeting new people too,  the hard part is keeping up with everyone so I will get a new computer by the end of April so I can continue to keep in touch.

Welcome to all new followers and thanks to those who have watched me grow, I am sure you know by now how much I love you all

HUGS

Do You Love Harley’s

Jewelry for Harley Ladies

Custom Pieces

I used a Peyote type circular stitch in tradition Harley Davidson colors. Orange and Black with a little touch of Silver(for the CHROME which is my FAVORITE COLOR) I used size 11 Japanese Seed Beads to make the bracelet.  When I was done I slid a piece of Silver toned 18 gauge craft wire inside the finished bead work so you could have a cuff that could close around a few different size wrists.  From end to end measures 7 1/4″ with a one inch opening at you wrist as you can see in the photo.

Many hours went into this piece using tiny beads and yards of Fireline.

I am selling this Peyote type stitched cuff for $25.00

If you are interested in any of the jewelry I post send me a message.

Thanks for stopping by.

Now Taking Orders

I am now taking orders for the jewelry I make.
I will be doing custom pieces in the size or colors of your choice.
I will make necklaces and bracelets  like the one below

which is call KUMIHIMO.  I use glass beads.

KUMIHIMO Bracelet
KUMIHIMO Bracelet

A little history about this type of beaded braid.

Kumihimo cord was first created by a form of finger-loop braiding. Later tools such as the marudai and the takadai were employed to make more complex braids in shorter time. The most prominent historical use of the cords was by samurai as both a functional and decorative way to lace their lamellar armour and their horses’ armor (barding). Kumihimo cords are now used as ties on haori jackets and obijimes, which are used for tying on an obi (kimono sash).

I will also be offering Fused Glass Pieces for not only the women but for the men in their lives.

I will also Start another BLOG to post this jewelry and for others to link to who also make pretty things they want top sell.¬† Let’s support each other.

Making Gifts

I have been really busy and then again doing nothing at all.¬† You all have such busy and active lives that I love reading about.¬† Yes I have stories from my old life and an occasional fun outing but as this time rolls around I remind myself I am here and to embrace this beautiful life I am given.¬† Don’t the holidays remind us to do that THINK!¬† So man loved ones gone and I miss them as you do so this year I am trying to get as healthy as can be I know I know what I think it is my third year in this journey but I am getting there slow and steady they say.

So I have been selling my photography and am thrilled others like it enough to want to own it or gift it.¬† Why don’t I do that?¬† I never give my pieces to loved ones and friends because I do not want them to feel obligated in hanging it if it is not to their taste. So why am I making gifts?¬†I am whipping up trinkets because I am poor and I know¬†how too now to make them into show stoppers they can not wait to place on their wrist or hang from an ear lobe or even their neck!¬† I really am bad at figuring peoples tastes out.¬† I could spend 8 hours on a woven piece full of tiny seed beads and they will walk into a store and buy a cheap string of beads on an elastic and be happy.¬† I had just about given up on trying to create beautiful pieces when I saw this package of beads and one thing lead to another and before you know it I had a group that just needs the finishing touches placed on then they become JEWELRY not sure they will be loved and enjoyed but all I care about right now is my passion has¬†surfaced and I am running with it!¬†

Let me show you now remember they are not done they are works of ART in process. lol

Now I will have to decide on findings to finish them with Silver, Gold Copper or even Gunmetal choices and more choices I will take the pieces into a local shop and see what they have or I will take the cash I made selling photography and buy online bags of 10 to 100 pieces but I am more of a one of a kind girl so the hard part no the fun part is done and they can sit till I know what I want to do.

Have a great week everyone and thanks for sticking with me.  I can bead and shoot pretty scenes all winter but I can blog about them too!

PEACE and LOVE to you all.

I had my breakfast and did the dishes and swept the floors and before I knew it I was gathering supplies in my nightgown and sat down and began to play.¬† Creating something colorful and wild again.¬† It has been awhile since I just sat and played.¬†¬† Felt good.¬† I looked up at 1:00 PM and I was still in Nightgown with many pretty items to bake so I can turn them into pieces of jewelry for the sale in November and maybe some for my friend’s store in Newburyport too.

Have an awesome weekend!

Oh wait my cat played with her friends today ūüôā

Alone With My Beads/Daily Prompt: The Zone

Inspiration comes in many forms but when it happens to me I either grab a camera or my Blue Tray upon which I do my Beading.

I head into the spare bedroom,  though there is no bed and open up the many drawers and containers I have full of beads.  As I poke around I zero in on the colors I have available.  I used to just have colors of the Sea.  I have been beading for two years now and have some of each color it seems.

So with tray in one hand I begin to add beads, needles, thread and findings to complete a project.  Who knows if I will sit and work it to the end or put it aside half-finished for a later day.

Even when gathering the supplies to make something pretty and new,  I slip into THE ZONE.  You have to or the creative juices can stop flowing,  even before you begin.

Now with all I think I will need,¬† piled high upon my blue tray,¬† I sit at the table over looking the yard and river with my dog and cat close by.¬† I add the string to my needle,¬† usually Fireline so the piece will last for years and then I use the needle to pick up one tiny seed bead at a time.¬† I like using 15’s and 11’s the best.¬† They are very tiny.¬† I have to focus or prick myself.

As I sit and pick up each one and add them into my design it starts to come together nicely and as I do the world seems to stop.  Yes I enter THE ZONE rather quickly when I place that Blue Beading Tray in front of me.

Do you BEAD?

Have a great day getting lost in THE ZONE!

Yard Sale Today

Image

I never say this but found it on the WEB¬† ūüôā

I will be at a yard sale today and possibly tomorrow if we do not find wonderful homes for all these lovely, used items.

I will bring my jewelry to see if there maybe any interest in the crowd today..I love beading but people are so different you just never know what will make them say “I have to have that!”.¬†

I try to remind myself that what I make is pretty and unique but in the back of my head if they do not purchase something, I really am thinking I will make something better next time.  Why do we do that?  I know the economy is bad and the last thing people think of is a new piece of bling when they are loosing their homes to their banks.  I must go easy on myself and not fall into the trap of just giving them away.  My bracelets take 4 to 8 hrs depending on the stich I use.  I use tiny seed beads, most people can not even see the holes in them.

I do Herringbone,Tubular Peyote,Flat Peyote, Even Count as well as Odd Count.  I make Eyeglass lanyards in either Sprial Stich or my favorite Kumihimo.  This  one I do has 8 bobbins I fill with cords pre-loaded with beautiful beads.  Then you get into a rythem and before your eyes this beautiful cord starts to appear.  I sell these too and make them with pretty glass beads but the time and cost of supplies plus something for my time always seems to be too much for those who check them out.  I will work on a piece at yard sale so they can watch and see what actually goes into each piece I make.  This will keep me from eatting fried dough too!

Hope you all have a wonderful day out there in your world !

I will post photos tonight, no time now. Just about 6AM I better get ready!

Peace
