Thankful For This Unusual Winter

Wow what a difference a year makes and in so many ways!

There is very little snow on the ground yes I know it can still just be a tad late but I personally am through the worst part of winter, with spring arriving in what, just 4 weeks!  I am dancing even with sore knees.  lol Not so sore I took a shot in each and it helped a lot and will give me time to get my pup cared for and guess what Mom’s surgery on left knee was such a success she is being allowed back home early!  Wow see what I mean about being thankful.  So many prayers said and great thoughts and energy how could she suffer again.  Thanks so much.

Our garden club will attend the Boston Flower Show next month so heads up there maybe flower photos soon lol  We are now taking orders for Pansy Bowls at just $15 for a full 12/14″ bowl brimming with pretty little flower faces I can not wait for mine to greet me each day as I arrive home.  Maybe I will try to paint them 🙂

Having Mom be in a better place my man doing OK with his pacemaker and my knees not hurting so bad now to get my pup feeling better all will be right in my small world.

Not sure about my reader so many I left a like on today I had not seen forever and ones I usually see were missing 😦  I will keep searching till I find you 🙂

I am going to try to add this video here not sure if the video will work 🙂

Just a moment in my world lol

I made an attempt at getting comfortable at a gallery I belong to and attended a Feb. 14 Art Party where I had a Black and White Pen and Ink / Watercolor hanging as well as Wolf Moon on a special wall our local Watercolor teacher invited her students to show thire piece of winter watercolor.  I actually unwound and had fun 🙂

It Snowed!

No I did not take photos yet after shoveling for seven hours in 24 hour period I was too tired to snap a photo really that tired and I fell again.  I told him to return my boot cleats he had bought me as I usually am very steady sadly yesterday I was not!  I am OK bad bruise that will heal in time I have enough going on never mind see another doctor.

So today I will share some more shots from our day before the storm at the coast.  We went for a long walk to see the seals and snowy owls maybe an eagle or two.  Mostly seals and gulls as it was cold and windy and I knew I would need my strength for the storm clearing so we were only outside for two hours in it but JT had a great time with me as I did her then we watched her daddy look for treasure.  Oh I did change my photo on all my sites to the same photo except for my Friends of Living and Loving Facebook page so no longer will you see a shot of him bent over digging treasure but he is.
So here are a few shots of JT and maybe a landscape or two sorry if photos are too large and take forever to load I will work on that next time I upload. I need the largest format to sell and do not want 3, 4, or 5 of the same photos in my computer all in different sizes I am computer illiterate
so I do things the easiest way I can to find the photo I want to share with you and just click on insert photo.

Seeing him digging down on the beach thinking she would take me there silly girl she is fearless.

She had never paid attention to the seawall but on this cold day feeling no pain she jumped up on her own and wanted to walk it.  Seems as she gets older I may have to watch her more.

A pretty place to sit  and watch  a sunset and a group of very loud seals
Image

back to the truck to wait for the sunset and go home and await the storm good thing they brought dinner for the gulls

Can not wait till I get back to the sea

International Great Backyard Bird Count, 15-18 February

Dear Kitty. Some blog

This video from the USA is called The Great Backyard Bird Count 2013.

From the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in the USA:

You’re Invited to the Great Backyard Bird Count

Please consider taking part in the 16th annual Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) February 15-18. The count is being integrated with the eBird online checklist system—which means that the count will be global for the first time. Anyone, anywhere, with Internet access can take part in the count. [If] you already participate in NestWatch, then you will not need to create a new account for the GBBC. If you’re watching birds that weekend, simply enter your checklists at www.birdcount.org. You’ll be prompted to enter your existing login information.

Participating is easy. Simply watch birds for at least 15 minutes at the location(s) of your choice on one or more of the count days. Estimate the number of birds you…

We are also going for THE GOLD!

Yes all that glitters at clean up is GOLD

We go for fun.

How many hobbies pay you back, for the time you put in?

With a small scoop and a plastic gold pan you can find this,  if you can figure  where in a river

it would sit and wait for you to find it.  That is the hardest part for some, reading the river.

Just like tying a fly for Trout or Salmon  and fly fishing a local river , you cast and let the current

swing it to where the fish are holed up.  Gold travels in floods, and moves throughout rivers and streams

and not just in AK or CA.

Times are tough for many right now and it has been around $1700.00 US an Ounce . So if you have

a stream with lots of large rocks or bedrock in it,  grab a pan,  they are cheap and a spade shovel and

give it a try.  You will be outside and in a cool river , on a hot summer day and who knows maybe just maybe

you may find a picker or a nugget!

We take all of that out first,  then screen down the dirt till we have fine gold, garnets and black sand

(the same thing that is inside of an Etch-a-Sketch)magnetite.

Remember show me what you find and keep your eyes open for gems too, as they can be found in the same streams.

Good luck out there and have fun in the beautiful outdoors!

Visitors

This place is so pretty in the spring.

We are always seeing  something new.

Buds appear to swell up just waiting for

that moment when it will be safe to open.

Mother Nature has played many bad tricks

in the past but this year I will enjoy her

perfection.

First to Bloom is the

Forsythia

Why do I always feel the need to get the camera and take 50+ photos of them?

They bloom each year without fail.   I guess it is because I really no longer enjoy

the cold nasty New England weather as I once did as a child.

I love springtime

I love the birds that grace our yard with their young.

I LOVE baby Hummingbirds

They remind me of all the trouble their parents go through to arrive here and set up a nest and call our yard their

summer place.

What I really like is that I am not threatening to them

They know they are safe here.

Well as long as I keep my Cat

under control as she loves her home too!

I do have a bossy girl in our Border Collie JT though who will keep her in line

So with the yard full of life and camera battery charged

I am ready for the NEXT Visitor!
