Wetting A Canvas For A little Fun

I picked up a canvas made for Watercolor and it sat in my studio for a couple of months.  I was worried I would make a mess, still being new to painting and with Watercolor.  Well I picked up some Violet from my palette and made a very loose mix then I wet the canvas as if it were just a piece of #140 paper, I usually paint on.  Well it was so wet and I feared I had ruined it but I tilted it and let it do it’s thing.

I lifted some off where I wanted the clouds to be and then mixed up a little Indigo.  Being too wet it mixed and mingled. It seemed to be on a path taking over what ever it was that I had wanted and then it evolved into this landscape.  lol  I never use a photo just let it happen and this time I loved it!  Now I must buy another for a wild colorful abstract!

Learning How To Create

With just over a year in, learning all I can on my own about Watercolor Painting, I have to say I wish I had known about this artform so long ago.

After laying down some plain water on my cold pressed paper I add splashes of straight or watered down pigment and watch magically as things begin to happen.  Clouds, mountains and even trees appear in my landscapes.  Now to learn how to paint figures and animals to really make them pop!

Please let me know what you think when you see new pieces added to my website or Facebook page.  With all those years on the road there was never anytime for me to visit Art Galleries.
